A book set to go on sale Tuesday, The Jersey Sting, tells the true story of corrupt politicians, money laundering rabbis, and even black market kidneys. It tells the inside story of Solomon Dwek who defrauded a bank out of millions and then became an undercover informant for the FBI. The investigation ended up bringing down many high ranking politicians.
It's not only the bribes and corruption that give it a serious Soprano feel. All of this takes place in, where else, but New Jersey. How long will it be before the book is turned into a television series? This time instead of featuring Italians it looks like it's time to feature the Jewish community.
With shows like the Sopranos, Boardwalk Empire, and now this book, I'm beginning to wonder does Jersey have the market cornered on corruption? Maybe we should change how we are known, forget Garden State. New Jersey the corruption state, and how about New Jersey and corruption, perfect together.
I guess it could be worse, we could be Delaware.
