The casinos of Atlantic City are struggling against both a tough economy and increased competition from neighboring states. Resorts, obviously looking to capitalize on the success of the HBO show Boardwalk Empire, is undergoing a $31 million renovation bringing back the look and feel of the Roaring Twenties.
The building is not the only thing getting a makeover. Cocktail waitresses will wear flapper dresses and dealers, bellmen, butlers, and valets will also wear period appropriate uniforms.
People like new, which is why you see diners constantly being renovated, but it only lasts so long. Free and winners is what gets people to come back. Free drinks, meals and other comps go a long way, but if they really want more repeat business then swing the odds a little more in the players favor. No telling how many customers the story of a winner could generate.
