Close but no cigar, best sums up the finish of today's Rutgers versus St. Johns game in the second round of the Big East Tournament for the Scarlet Knights. The final score of 65 to 63 doesn't begin to tell the heartbreak of the Rutgers faithful, as they actually led by one with less than a minute to play.
First year coach Mike Rice had the team playing tough defense again, and showing a never say quit attitude that would probably best describe this team's season. While this loss will sting for a little while, for the first time in a long time I can honestly say I can't wait for next season.
Rutgers may have finally found the right coach, let's just hope he can recruit just as well as he leads his team. Who knows maybe this is the man who will bring a Big East Championship and NCAA bid to JERZEEBABY!
