Best Places to Buy NJ Lottery Released by Star Ledger

Rarely do we see stories in our local newspapers on subjects we are actually interested, or truly helpful. The Star Ledger, after much homework, has managed to do both with one story today. They released a list of the best and worst places to buy NJ Lottery tickets.
The Newark based newspaper poured over lottery statistics from as far back as 2005, and came to the conclusion that location truly is everything. The best place to buy your NJ Lottery tickets, Linwood. The worst, Deerfield.
The article is published on the Star Ledger's website NJ.com, but if you just want to see the chart from the article, then click the link below.

If you are looking to increase your NJ Lottery chances further, I published two articles on Yahoo on the subject, check them out below.

Camden Waterfront Pictures The Nice Side of Camden

Yes Camden has a nice side. It's the area on the Waterfront that never gets talked about. The Camden Waterfront has attractions that any town would dream about.
The first photo shows the beautiful red brick walkway which runs alongside the Delaware River and stretches from the base of the Ben Franklin Bridge, past the Camden Riversharks baseball stadium, the Adventure Aquarium, a small marina, and ending at the docked Battleship New Jersey.
The next two photos are of some of the great sites you will see inside the Adventure Aquarium. This facility is worth the trip alone.
The fourth photo is an aerial shot of the Battleship New Jersey, a massive site docked on the Camden Waterfront. While impressive enough to just look at, the ship also offers tours.
The next two shots were taken at the Camden Riversharks baseball stadium. As you can see, it is located directly below the Ben Franklin Bridge, and sponsored primarily by Campell Soup, which is also located in Camden.
Finally, the last two shots are of my current residence, the Victor Lofts, also located on the Camden Waterfront. The luxury apartments are housed in the historic, former RCA Victor building. We even have a stained glass window of the famed Victor Dog and Victrola that lights up the sky at night.
I hope I have shown you the good side of Camden. Maybe I will finally stop getting those looks when I tell people I live in Camden. Afterall, I have a college campus, Rutgers Camden, a baseball stadium, beautiful view of Philadelphia from across the Delaware River, an aquarium, the Camden Children's Garden, a marina, a concert venue I can walk to, and a battleship all in my neighborhood. What do you have a library?
Maybe I should be the one looking funny at you!

Baby Jaguar Cub Picture Philadelphia Zoo

This is a picture of a new jaguar cub born at the Philadelphia Zoo. The zoo has seen quite a few babies born this spring including four red kangaroos, a penguin, tortoise, a Titi monkey, and many more. Sounds like a great time to visit. Extreme Heat Warning for New Jersey

The temperatures in New Jersey are expected to approach the 100 degree mark over the next two days. We all hear the same warnings, dress in light clothing, drink plenty of water, and check on the elderly. While every one of us will do the first two, how many pay attention to the last? Not enough!
We are all too busy or just assume that everyone has air condition. While everyone may have air condition, it doesn't mean they use it. That fact never hit home more with me than when I stopped in to visit my mother unannounced. There she sat sweating with the air condition off.
When I asked her why the air was off? She told me it wasn't really hot, and she didn't want to waste the energy. Just old,old school thinking.
I had to turn the air on for her. Who knows if she kept it on.
So Tomorrow and Thursday, after you dress light, and drink plenty of water, check on the elderly. Make sure they actually have the air condition on. It may be the coolest part of your day.

Great White Shark Spotted at Jersey Shore

A boater called the Coast Guard to report the sighting of a twelve foot long Great White shark in the surf off of Island Beach State Park. The Coast Guard and lifeguards both were unable to confirm the sighting. However, experts say it would not be unusual for a Great White to be off the coast of New Jersey at this time of year.
In case you don't know the story that was the basis for the movie "Jaws" took place right here in Jersey.
I have to admit if I had to chose between a Great White and the cast of MTV'S Jersey Shore, I would take the Great White. We would all be a lot safer!

NJ Hospital Infested With Mice.

The website of the Star Ledger, NJ.com, is reporting that the intensive care unit of one of New Jersey's biggest hospitals is dealing with an infestation of mice. University Hospital of Newark has called in pest control experts to deal with the problem in an area of the hospital that contains many of it's sickest patients. Check out the complete story by clicking the link above.

Help Autism Awareness With an Email for Free

I wrote yesterday about a possible break through in the area of Autism, reported on Web MD, involving the use of prenatal vitamins. The internet truly is a mysterious place, because this morning I received an email with the easiest way of helping to raise money for Autism research.
All you need to do is go to this Autism website, sign up with your email, and agree to receive a daily email, and money will be donated to Autism research. Why wouldn't you do this?

Autism Breakthrough

This blog is supposed to be about all the great things in New Jersey, but sometimes something catches my attention outside that realm which I feel needs to be shared. Today it is a possible breakthrough concerning Autism.
A story on WebMD is reporting the very real possibility of prenatal vitamins being able to lower the risk of  having a child without Autism. You probably know the rates of Autism has increased significantly in recent years. We have heard of many possible causes, but this is the first time we are hearing some good news.
There was way too much information in the article than I could ever include here, so I provided a link below to check it out for yourself.

Snooki Arrested in Italy

We all knew it was only a matter of time, but the first castmember of MTV's Jersey Shore was arrested in Italy, and surprise, it was Snooki.
The same Snooki who was arrested for drunk and disorderly on the beach in Seaside Heights, was arrested in Italy for crashing into the back of a police car.
The most amazing aspect of all this may just be that alcohol was not involved.

Memorial Day Weekend Sunday With My Son

Like father, like son. No day of the year might that be more true for my son and myself han the Sunday of Memorial Day weekend. Why that day you ask? Because there is no other day of the year when there is more big-time auto racing on television than this day. And I am proud to say I have created a certified racing nut in my son.
Our Sunday schedule will be something along these lines. Watching the Formula 1 race from Monaco at 7AM until just a little past 10AM. During that time we will have our breakfast together. At the conclusion of the Formula one race, it's shower time and then out the door.
Before you think I'm the kind of father who would keep his son inside all day on a bright, sunny day like this, next on our schedule is The Camden Children's Garden. By living on the Camden Waterfront we are literally across the street from the Children's Garden, along with the Adventure Aquarium, and the Battleship New Jersey.
The Children's Garden has dancing water, great on a day like this, a train to ride on, a carousel, mazes, and a view of the penguin area of the aquarium. We did all that and managed to see the feeding of the penguins, all by noon.
Next on the schedule is more racing. We settle into lunch as we prepare for the start of the Indy 500. This will take up most of our afternoon, and my son will probably take a nap during the race. Hopefully he will awake in time to see the finish of the Indy 500, and the start of the Nascar Coca-Cola 600.
Sometime during this time we will do some dinner, and the reading of some books. With our day ending well into the night, we will both go to bed happy.
  LIKE FATHER LIKE SON!

My Son's Picture Makes It Onto a Yahoo Article

Some of you may know that I write for several different internet sites. One of those is Yahoo. I was recently reviewing some articles I had previously written and came across this article with my son's picture. To be honest with you I had practically forgotten I had written it and that it had his photo. Needless to say, this is again my favorite article.
They grow up so fast may be the truest words ever spoken. He will be four in a few months and has matured incredibly. He is super independent and even told me today he is going to take a plane to Philadelphia by himself. Being we only live across the Delaware River from Philly, I would probably be concerned if he said he was going to swim there.
Pretty cool to think his image will be on the internet forever. Hope I get to show him it when he becomes a teenager. He will hate that.

Martell's Tiki Bar Deal and More

Memorial Day weekend is here, and it looks like we are going to have great weather here in New Jersey. The choices of things to do are really unlimited, but should certainly include some outdoor time.
One of the things us Jerseyans love to do once Memorial Day weekend arrives is head to the Jersey Shore. Whether it is the beaches of Sandy Hook, with it's view of New York City, or the free, wide beaches of Wildwood, or anywhere between, there is surely a beach for everyone in our state.
My personal favorite is Point Pleasant. The beaches are clean, there are great rides and games for my son, and of course the great food. If you are anything like me then you need to check out this Martell's Tiki Bar Deal that I had emailed to me. You can purchase a $50 certificate for use there for only $25. When do you ever get a 50% discount on a meal, especially one at Martell's?
Another offer I had emailed to me which I thought was very intriguing was a $40 certificate for only$20 good towards a whale and dolphin watching trip off of Cape May. The offer, along with many more, is available at the KGB deals.
I hope you will be able to take advantage of these specials, if not this weekend, then in the near future. Meanwhile get out this weekend and enjoy this great state of JERZEEBABY!

Dale Earnhardt Jr./Martin Truex Jr. Cribs Episode

New Jersey has many famous residents and many celebrities who were born in the Garden State and gone on to do great things. When it comes to auto racing, Martin Truex Jr. is currently NJ's biggest star. The Mayetta born driver currently competes for Michael Waltrip Racing in the Sprint Cup Series.
However, when he first made the move to the big time it was with Dale Earnhardt Jr. and his father's DEI team. The two drivers had much in common as both came from racing families. They became and remain good friends.
While trolling Amazon I came across this video of an episode of Cribs on CMT that features not only Dale Jr., but also Jersey's own Martin Truex Jr. You can click the link to get a free preview.
Who knew a Jersey racer would ever be on Cribs?

Credit Card That Allows You to Track Your Kid's Spending

If you are a parent who gives your child an allowance, then you need to check out this credit card that not only allows you to load their allowance, but also track how they spend it. The benefits of giving your child a credit card over cash are primarily safety from them losing the money, as well as them knowing you will be able to know where they spent their money.
The Bill My Parents credit card goes way beyond that. The card will actually send you a real-time text or email letting you know where your child is attempting to make a purchase. You then have the option of allowing it or "freezing" the card. This cannot only be helpful in stopping your child from wasting their money, but also give you some insight into what they may be getting into.
The card can also be loaded by friends and relatives for special occassions like birthdays or graduation.
For more information click on any of the links in this post or the one below.

Beautiful Day on the Camden Waterfront

Finally, the sun is out. If this is what the end of the world looks like, then sign me up for the Rapture. I am also lucky enough to live on the Camden Waterfront, with a spectacular view of Philadelphia, just across the Delaware River.
Being that mom is away today, it will be a father and son day. We are planning to take a walk over to the Camden Riversharks baseball stadium located just under the Ben Franklin Bridge. On game days, the stadium is usually open for us to walk in and check out the men getting the field ready.
From there we will make our way along the beautifully bricked walkway next to the Delaware and head toward the Camden Aquarium. We won't be going to the aquarium today, however. Living just across the street from it, we only go on weekdays when the crowds are smaller. If you have never been to the Adventure Aquarium, it's real name, you really need to plan a trip there. It is truly amazing.
After passing the aquarium, we will head toward the Battleship NJ, which is docked on the Camden side of the Delaware. The sheer size of this ship is amazing, my son loves to look at it. We have yet to go aboard, he's only three and I think he would probably get bored halfway through the tour.
The Battleship is our turn around point. From there we will make our way past the boat docks and toward the Camden Childrens Garden. If you have young children, and are visiting the aquarium on the weekend you should check out the Childrens Garden. They have a train, you can ride on, a carousel, mazes, dancing water, and a butterfly house. We will definitely be stopping there.
Our next destination is actually located on the first floor of our building. Ritas, my so cannot go home without his vanilla cup. It may be hard for someone to believe that we enjoy living in Camden, but tell me can you do any of what we are doing today by just walking around the neighborhood? Didn't think so.

Weird NJ Amusements Video

I have long been a fan of the guys at Weird NJ. I used to pick up copies of their magazines at the newstands. Then I got their book as a present. If you have not had a chance to check it out, do yourself a favor and get a copy. There is seemingly a place in just about everyone's neighborhood in the book, and most times you never even knew they existed. Much more than a book, it then becomes field trips to check out the places that interest you.
Again, I can not begin to tell you how entertaining all this stuff ends up being, even if it is just urban legends, or are they?

Camden Aquarium One of my Favorite Places in Jersey

I live in Camden, yes the same Camden you hear about as being one of the poorest cities in America. Yes the Camden that is known for it's drug dealers and prostitutes. What you don't hear about is the nice part of Camden, where I live, the Camden Waterfront.
I live in a luxury apartment with a view of Philadelphia, and the Ben Franklin Bridge. My neighbors are the beautiful campus of Rutgers-Camden, the baseball stadium of the Camden Riversharks, and the Adventure Aquarium.
As the father of a three year old, and avid fish lover, you would think I would spend a lot of time at the aquarium. Sadly, that isn't so, but we did get to visit it again this past Monday. I don't know who enjoyed it more myself, or my son, I, honestly, think it was me since nothing beats seeing the look on his face every time he sees those penguins or hippos.
If you haven't visited this treasure of the Garden State, do yourself and your kids a favor and get down here soon. Don't be put-off by anything you hear about Camden. The aquarium is located in a very nice area right on the Delaware River. In fact, my son and I walk the waterfront at least three times a week.
The Adventure Aquarium link above is to an article I wrote for Yahoo with all the details you will need to know, such as hours of operation, ticket prices, and features. Check it out for yourself, you won't be disappointed.

Looking for Something to do Every Weekend in New Jersey?

As many of you know who read this blog, I pretty much love just about everything about New Jersey. What many of you might not know is that I spend many of my days sitting in a Barnes and Noble, sipping my Starbucks coffee, while writing.
Most days I have so much to write I rarely leave my spot near the window, with the exceptions of trips to the bathroom. A side effect of all that coffee. Today, however, was an exception.
It wasn't like I didn't have plenty to write about, rather I had a job to do from an even higher figure than any of the editors at Yahoo or NJ.com. The mother of my child had instructed me to research several weekend activities, her, I, and our son could all do together.
Rather than just type some words into Google, I headed for the New Jersey section of the Barnes and Noble. Much to my surprise, there was an impressive selection of books not only on our great state, but things to do in it.
One book in particular I found to be both very helpful and imformative. "52 Weekends in New Jersey" by Mitch Kaplan, not only gave suggestions on possible activities in the Garden State, but also reviews of what the destination or activity had to offer. I included a link to it through Amazon at a price about $8 less than the bookstore.
I am already making plans for upcoming weekends based on this book. Click on the link included to check it out. Maybe we'll run into each other in JERZEEBABY.

Iconic Boyz Video, Jersey Boys Need Our Help

I am a back seat viewer of MTV's Americas Best Dance Crew. My Fiance is a big fan of the show, which features dance crews from all over the world competing against each other each week. They are each assigned a song from a particular artist each week, and must come up with a dance routine for it. Artists such as Lady GaGa or Justin Bieber are usually featured. While this type of show is not really my thing, one group caught my eye.
The Iconic Boyz are a group of  mostly ten year olds from Englishtown, New Jersey. You mention anything Jersey, and you pretty much have my attention, but these kids are truly amazing. The moves and choreography are incredible at any age.
Much like American Idol, Americas Best Dance Crew uses the votes of the viewers along with the opinion of the judges to decide who stays another week or who goes. The Iconic Boyz have made it incredibly far already, but I think we should do our part towards helping them win.
The show airs on MTV on Thursday nights at 10PM. Immediately following the show the voting starts. Tune in and check out these kids who are representing the state of NJ so well, and VOTE!
I have included a video for you to check out. Good luck guys!

Happy Mothers Day To All The Jersey Moms

It's Mothers Day this beautiful Sunday in New Jersey. The one day of the year when we try to make up to Mom for all the things we put her through. Some of us will take our Moms out for a nice meal or maybe invite her over for a bbq. We may buy her a card and some nice flowers. The choices are truly endless as long as we are as nice as possible.
I, personally, have decided to continue a tradition I started while still in my teens. I'm not going to share with my mom all the bad things I have done in my life she has no idea about. The bar fight in the Fastlane in Asbury Park. The night the last thing I remember is buying a pitcher of beer with a young lady at the Stone Pony, and waking up on the pool table, to find my friend passed out in a corner of the bar. Then taking turns driving home, how we made it I will never know.
Then there is the night when I arrived home after having a really good night, you know what I mean, with my then girlfriend to find a taxi in my driveway. When the door opened and it was a girl I had wanted to date for years, I knew this was going to be a night you tell all your buddies about, but not your mom. And it was, but that's a story for another day.
Needless  to say, I was by no means the perfect son. I definitely did more than my share of things that my mom would not be proud of. However, the one thing I did do was manage to keep her in the dark about many of my transgressions. That is the greatest gift I have ever given my mom.
So when my mom says, "You shouldn't have" and I reply, "Trust me, I should have done more", she has no clue how much I mean that!
Happy Mothers Day to all the moms out there, luckily for me my mom doesn't have a computer. So if you know her don't print this up for her. You wouldn't want to mess up a longstanding tradition. What mom doesn't know won't hurt her, now that's the perfect Mothers Day gift.

Yes New Jersey Has Stock Car Racing

I have been a regular at many of the various stock car tracks located in New Jersey most of my life. Yes, New Jersey has stock car racing. It has dirt tracks, an asphalt oval, an asphalt road course, and it even has hosted a Nascar Craftsman Truck Series  race not too many years ago at the since closed Flemington Speedway.
When it came time for me to take my three year old son to an actually race for the first time, my choice was a natural one for me, Wall Stadium. The 1/3 mile high banked oval located in Belmar, down the Jersey Shore, was the sight of my first race. I went there with my father, and now I got to take my son. When we arrived at the track for it's Opening Night, we were joined by a friend and his daughter, and my brother, his girlfriend, and her young daughter.
A short time after their arrival, I was greeted with the question I get from most first time local track race attendees. My brother's girlfriend asked, "Is Dale Earnhardt Jr. here?" Needless to say he wasn't.
Her initial disappointment was quickly replaced by her enjoyment of the night's races. The Legend cars zipped around the track, their small size making the track look like a superspeedway. The Street Stocks banged doors all the way around the track, reminding me of how Nascar used to be. And the Modifieds, an open wheel car actually faster than Sprint Cup cars, put on a race Nascar wished they got every week on television.
Yes New Jersey has stock car racing, and if you are a Nascar fan and haven't yet visited one of these tracks, you are truly missing out. The racing on most nights is much, much better than anything you'll see on a Nascar telecast. Do yourself a favor and get out to Wall Stadium, New Egypt Speedway, or Bridgeport Speedway.

$5 Experiment Can We Bankrupt An Online Survey Company ?

I recently received an email from an online survey company. The email claimed for every person I could get to use my link to join, they would credit me $5. I would like to put this to the test, click the link below and join. I'm sure if you're really not interested in the surveys you can just stop the emails. If this works I will do the same for you. Let's see if we can bankrupt this company and if they really pay. Click the link below!

New York Yankee Tickets Almost Free

New York Yankee fans may be among the most knowledgeable when it comes to baseball itself, but how about ticket buying? Did you know it's possible to go to a Yankee game and practically pay nothing for a ticket. Thanks to season ticket holders not being able to attend all the games and a website, a day at the ballpark doesn't have to set you back a small fortune.
My Yahoo article on the subject has much more details. To check it out click on the link below.

Jon Bon Jovi Will Let You Eat for Free

New Jersey rocker Jon Bon Jovi is planning on opening a payment-optional restaurant in Red Bank. The hope is the facility can not only help those in need, but also, become a fundraising source. The concept is not new, and has worked in other areas of the country.
I have written an entire article for Yahoo on the proposed eatery, so click on the link below for all the details.

Trucks Needed to Crash into NJ Parkway Bridges

New Jersey state officials are reportedly looking into allowing commercial truck traffic to travel on the Garden State Parkway north of Exit 105. Like any other proposal in NJ, the motive here is generating more income for the state. A truck traveling the full length of the Parkway would pay as much as $37 in tolls.
These same officials cite a need to look into the wear trucks would have on the pavement and whether the bridges are tall enough to accomodate them. Really? They need to look into whether the bridges are high enough? That's like saying we're considering opening up the railroad tracks to passenger cars, to clear congestion on the roads. We just need to see how compatible cars would be on the tracks.
Obviously these "officials" don't spend alot of time on the Parkway. Many of the Parkway bridges in North Jersey are arched. While trucks may be able to pass through the center of these arches, they definitely cannot be in the far right or far left lane. What do these "officials" propose, trucks will only be allowed in the center lane?
Even if the trucks manage to make it throught the arches, what about the low, LOW, bridge near Newark. There is no way commercial trucks can clear that span. What do they propose, dumping all the trucks off in Newark? Like they don't have enough traffic problems.
I suggest these "officials" take a ride on the Garden State Parkway, maybe in the front window of a double-decker bus, and then, if they come back, give us their new suggestions or proposals.
Maybe it's just their goal to have a Garden State Parkway littered with wrecked trucks. My brother wouldn't mind, but he owns a towing service. Me, I have a small child, and the Parkway is dangerous enough for us. Leave the trucks to the roads that can handle them, not the Garden State Parkway.

Bear on NJ Turnpike Held Me Up

I travel the NJ Turnpike at least twice a week, if not more. As you can imagine, I have seen my share of traffic jams and delays. The traffic will slow for any number of reasons. Cars broken down along the side of the road, bathroom breaks for little ones, but even I had to be amazed by what caused my delay this morning. A BEAR!
Yes, a bear. A Black Bear decided to take up residence in a tree right at Exit 8 on the Turnpike. I have to admit my son and I didn't even know what we were passing at the time, all we saw were police cars and people staring at a small group of trees alongside the roadway. Who would think a bear?
Of course I really shouldn't be surprised. I was almost hit earlier this week by a nun, who went through a stop sign. Guess I was being sent a message, and all this time I was looking for lightning to strike me down.

Neo-Nazis Coming to New Jersey

A Neo-Nazi group is planning a rally this Saturday April 16th at the foot of the World War II Memorial near the Statehouse in Trenton. The group has obtained a permit  for between 75 to 150 attendees to gather between the hours of 1PM and 5PM. They expect about 100 members to attend, some from as far away as Detroit. The groupis holding the rally to bring attention to high taxes, illegal immigration, and crime.
The Jewish Defense Organization has said they will have members on hand to disrupt the rally. They have also told any businesses in the area, such as hotels or restaurants, should the accomodate the Neo-Nazis their establishment will be subject to boycotts.
The NJ State Police have been aware of the rally plans for months and will be on hand along with officers from other forms of law enforcement.
While I don't think any group that can only muster up 100 members, especially when they are coming from other states, is a serious threat, hate in any form is wrong. I just hope the Jewish Defense Organization doesn't stoop to their levels. We shouldn't hate these people, we should feel sorry for how misinformed they are. Immigrants and other races are not responsible for high taxes, unemployment, and crime, however, their own hatred may be.

Win At Scratch Off Lottery Tickets

I know scvratch off lottery tickets are pretty popular here in Jersey, seems any time I stop anywhere they are sold there is someone nearby scratching away. What really amazes me is how little these people do to increase their odds of winning. They put more stock in crossing their fingers than doing a little research.
I like to increase my odds in anything I do, so I looked into these instant lottery tickets a little deeper.
So while I can't give you the winning numbers for the Mega Millions, Powerball, or even the Pick 3 or 4, I can tell you which scratch off tickets you should buy and maybe more importantly which ones you shouldn't.

Atlantic City Serial Killer Looks To New York For Victims

The continuing discovery of more and more bodies on a secluded Long Island beach have raised questions about a possible connection to a serial killer in Atlantic City years earlier. No one was ever prosecuted for the Jersey killings.
All the victims were known prostitutes, with the latest ones all girls who advertised on Craigslist.
Check out the details at New York Serial Killer May Have Started In New Jersey

Goldfish Are a Lot of Work, Who Knew?

I am a fish lover, not the kind you eat, the ones you buy at Petsmart or Petco and put in a beautiful tank in your house. Fact is I've been to Petsmart once this week already, yet I have only been to Red Lobster once in my whole life.
I recently had a friend of mine ask me about getting a goldfish for his child. You see I have three tanks in my home, two of which have goldfish, so he came to me for advice.
As i began to reel off all the things he would need and what he would have to do he stopped me.
"We are talking about a goldfish aren't we?"
He like most people think you just drive to your local Petco, buy a small bowl, a fish, and some food and you're done.
Nothing could be farther from the truth, so I put much of what I was telling him into a Yahoo article.
Check out Goldfish As Pets, Not As Easy As It Looks and let me know what you think.
While not good for goldfish, the tank pictured is perfect for betta(fighting fish) that are much simpler and hardier. I recommend this before even attempting a goldfish.

Verizon and Comcast Stealing From Customers

As I occassionally do, I was going over the household expenses to see if there were any which we could actually reduce. My Verizon and Comcast bills made me yearn for a simpler time. A time when the only phone was the one in your home, and television was free. Are these two expenses our parents never had responsible for most of our households being two-income?
I took a closer look at this in Verizon and Comcast Stole My Wallet check it out!

Jersey Shore Cast Overdose

After agreeing to new deals the entire cast of MTV's Jersey Shore has left to start filming the new season in Italy. Reportedly each cast member will receive at least $100,000 an episode up from the $10,000 they received last year.
If that isn't enough, MTV has also ordered additional episodes of two pilots featuring Jersey Shore cast members. The first follows Pauly D as he dj's in various clubs. The other show will feature Snooki and J Wow as they search for a place to live together.
MTV executives say they aren't worried about the public overdosing on the Jersey Shore. Last season the show was the highest rated cable reality show in history. You really can't blame the cast, either, for riding this gravy train for as long as possible. In fact, Snooki has openly commented on making a career of reality television.
Maybe Rutgers should reconsider paying Snooki for speaking engagements and look to hire her full time as a professor. Her career choice seems to result in more money than any Rutgers grad could hope to earn maybe ever in their lifetime.
I can see it now. Snooki teaching a course on careers in television. Ronnie and Sammi teaching about relationships, and the "Situation" showing students how to live like a teenager, even when you are well into your forties. How long before Rutgers opens a campus in Seaside Heights? The Jersey Shore campus led by President Vinnie.

Strange NJ Laws You Never Heard Of

New Jersey, like most states, has laws still on the books that in this day and age seem strange if not just stupid. I'm sure at the time there were good reasons for them, although you really have to wonder were they enacted to address real problems or was a lawmaker just really annoyed.
The first law seems particularly strange for New Jersey, the Garden State. It is illegal to sell cabbage in the state on Sundays. What's behind this law, a desire to keep the state free of cabbage's byproducts on the day of rest? Was someone so annoyed by the smell or did someone come from a home where cabbage was on the menu every day and just needed a break?
The next law certainly comes from a time when it was unheard of to question the authority of a police officer. It is illegal to frown at a police officer. Can you imagine being arrested and your cellmate asks you what your in for? "I frowned at a cop man".
We all love ice cream, and apparently at one time in NJ it was thought to have medicinal benefits, at least in Newark. You see in Newark it is illegal to sell ice cream to anyone after 6 PM unless they have a note from their doctor. I can't get into see my doctor when I have the flu, let alone when I want some comfort food.
The next law is one that maybe we should really start enforcing. It is illegal to slurp soup. I have been in a few restaurants when I wish someone would come in and remove a noisy soup slurper at a table nearby. Next time I'm out to dinner I will be sure to keep 911 on speed dial.
The last law I want to mention could be bad news for notorious pickle lover, Snooki from MTV'S Jersey Shore, should she ever decide to come to Trenton NJ. In the capital of NJ it is illegal to throw a bad pickle into the street. I can't even imagine how littered the streets of Trenton must have been with bad pickles before this law came about.
So if you don't want big trouble in NJ make sure you don't start your Sunday trying to buy cabbage, then slurp your soup at lunch, throw your bad pickle into the street in Trenton, frowning as you pass a police officer, while trying to buy ice cream in Newark after 6PM without a doctor's note. Everything else is fine.

Bruce Springsteen Plays Asbury Park's Wonder Bar

Bruce Springsteen and the Wonder Bar have both been part of the Asbury Park, NJ music scene for a long time. Amazingly when Springsteen took the stage Saturday night, it was the first time he had ever actually played there. The club was the sight of his first meeting with long time E Street member Clarence Clemons more than 40 years ago.
Springsteen, who has been spending alot of time in Asbury Park lately with appearances at both the Upstage and Asbury Lanes, was in town to support the West Side R&B scene. He, Southside Johnny, and members of the West Side scene participated in a discussion about the impact of the scene on the music that came out of Asbury Park at the Atonement Luthern Church, earlier in the day.
Later that night Springsteen, Southside Johnny, Vini Lopez, and members of the West Side scene all shared the stage at the Wonder Bar. They played together on some popular songs from the 60's including "Love on a two way street" and "What's your name".
As I mentioned in an earlier post Springsteen has been spending alot of time in Asbury Park lately. He has been checking out places and even music that meant alot to him in his youth. He also visited Asbury Lane catching some tunes by New Brunswick, NJ based band Bad Karma.
Let's hope this is a sign of the Boss wanting to make some new music and even possibly a tour. Springsteen has been good for Asbury Park for a long time, could Asbury now be good for Bruce?

Drunk and Sloppy Gets You $32,000 From Rutgers

When students at Rutgers pay their tuition there is a student activities fee added in. Those fees are used for a number of things, including bringing speakers to the college to address the students. These speakers are usually experts in their fields and highly respected among their peers.
The latest speaker to appear, Snooki. Yes, that Snooki from MTV's Jersey Shore. While she is an expert at being a sloppy drunk, I highly doubt this is the kind of speaker the students' parents envisioned when they sent their kids off to such a respected school as Rutgers.
What knowledge could she share with the students? How to get really drunk, have sex with random strangers, and get arrested for being a public nuisance on the beach. Great, like college students don't get in enough trouble already.
So this summer, if you're down the Jersey Shore and get bumped by a drunken college kid wearing a Rutgers shirt, you can thank Snooki, the latest expert brought to our state's university to further their education.
Oh and by the way, they paid her $32,000.

New Sexy Uniforms Get 16 Fired At Resorts Casino

Resorts Casino, as mentioned here in an earlier post, has decided to renovate not only their casino, but the overall look and feel of the experience. Hoping to capitalize on the popularity of the HBO series Boardwalk Empire, the casino is going for a Roaring 20's feel.
As part of the change a new uniform was introduced for the cocktail waitresses to wear. The new uniforms are backless, cut up high in the thigh, and worn with fish net stockings and high heels. Sounds pretty risque for the 20's , but I guess we have to take their word for it.
Sixteen cocktail waitresses at Resorts have now claimed they have been fired because of how they looked in the new uniforms. This has happened in the past when other casinos have changed uniforms.
What I will never understand is why these casinos put themselves in the line of fire by firing these women. I'm sure cocktail waitresses make most of their money on tips. If the casino really wanted to get rid of them couldn't they just schedule them in low volume areas or give them bad shifts. Why create the bad publicity by firing them, unless they feel any publicity is good publicity.
As far as the women are concerned, if their earnings are tied directly to their appearance why don't they make more of an effort to be in shape? I'm not being sexist it's just reality. Would you pay good money to be trained by a personal trainer who was out of shape? Would you hire a driver who couldn't see well?
I feel for these women I really do. I hope Resorts can find other positions for them, or I hope they can get themselves back in better shape and earn more tips than they ever have.

Chris Christie Wants Death Penalty for Lakewood Cop Killer

NJ State Senator Robert W. Singer is introducing a bill to bring the death penalty back to the state. Under the proposal anyone convicted of certain capital crimes including the killing of a police officer or a child under the age of 14 would be eligible for the death penalty. The bill comes in response to the killing of Lakewood police officer Christopher Matlosz, who was shot while sitting in his patrol car.
The bill has the support of Governor Chris Christie, but isn't supported by everyone. Critics cite the cost of keeping an inmate on death row, while the chances of an execution are minimal at best.
I agree with both points, we should bring back the death penalty, and actually use it. Of course it's not a deterrent, since criminals know there is basically no chance they will be executed. Too bad it's too late to get it reinstated to rid the world of the man who took Officer Matlosz's life.

Bruce Springsteen Looking for Inspiration

New Jersey native and Jersey Shore legend, Bruce Springsteen, has been spotted out and about in Asbury Park this past week. He was first reported to have visited the Upstage, a venue he last appeared at 40 years ago. The three floor club/restaurant is currently being restored by new owners. Springsteen toured the building talking about the many memories he had of the place.
He was next spotted checking out one of the most popular places to see live music in Asbury Park on Friday night. The Asbury Lanes, which is a bowling alley and club all rolled into one, presented the band Bad Karma, a New Brunswick, NJ favorite. A show I told you about here on Jerzeebaby.
While it is not unusual to hear of Springsteen sightings, especially down at the Jersey Shore, fans may hope it is something more. Could the Boss be looking for inspiration for some new music? Is he scouting places to play new music before he brings it to the rest of the world?
How cool would it be to see Bruce up on stage playing Thunderroad while you're trying to knock down some beers and some pins? Think it will never happen? As soon as you think that with Bruce, he'll prove you wrong.

Housewives of New Jersey Husband Arrested Again

Joe Guidice, husband of Teresa, on the "Real Housewives of New Jersey" has been arrested again. This time he was trying to use his brother's ID to obtain a driver's license in Paterson, NJ. He spent 6 hours in prison before two friends posted $50,000 bail for his release. His diving priviledges were revoked last year after he hit a pole and refused to take a breathalyzer. His wife was out of town at the time on an appearance.
If you ever had any doubts about the intelligence level of these reality stars, just tune in one week, or better yet watch what they are doing when the cameras aren't on. If convicted he faces ten years in prison, wanna bet it ends up on television.

Drug Possession vs. $1.5 Million Scam, What's Worse?

Two stories appearing on the same page of NJ.com show the discrepancy in how our justice sytems deals with two very different crimes. Drug possession or scamming people out of more than $1.5 million, which is worse? If we are to solely judge on the sentences handed down in two recent cases in Southern New Jersey, then we must gather that drugs is the more serious of the two.
Anthony Petrucci, 40, of Springfield Township was sentenced to seven years in prison for possession with intent to distribute at least five ounces of methamphetamine. He plead guilty on the day of his trial and must serve at half his sentence before he is eligible for parole. Police found him in possession of two pounds of the drug.
Martin Gevers, 52, of Burlington was sentenced to six years in prison for defrauding investors out of $1.5 million. He must make restitution and will be on on supervised parole for three years upon his release.
Both crimes had the potential to affect many other lives. Two pounds of meth most likely would of lead to at least several deaths had it made it to the street. Investment scams not only end up costing innocent victims their retirement savings, but in many cases their dignity as well.
Which crime is worse? I suppose that depends on one's own point of view. However, I think the one thing we can all agree on is both sentences are too short. Stealing $1.5 million only gets you six years in a federal prison, I know some people who would definitely take that chance. Distributing more than two pounds of meth only gets you three years if you are good and get parole.
Slaps on the wrist like this by our legal system will do little to deter crime. In fact, it just may encourage some people to take the chance. Do the crime, serve a little time, maybe even very little.

Adopt a Beach on the Jersey Shore

One of the things most of us Jerseyans love about our state is our beaches. We know the real Jersey Shore as a place giving us and our families great pleasure and enjoyment, long before MTV brought us Snooki. Well sadly, due to what else but budget cuts, our beaches might not look as good as they normally do when we arrive every year.
For the past two decades the state Department of Enviromental Protection has funded statewide beach cleanups twice a year. Once in the spring and again in the fall. The last cleanup to occur was last spring when approximately 3,000 volunteers combed more than 100 miles of beaches and picked up 22,000 pounds of trash. With the $5,000 needed for the fall cleanup cut from the budget, the Jersey Shore faces opening after missing not one but two cleanings.
A nonprofit organization, the New Jersey Clean Communities Council, is trying to change that. They are hoping to get community organizations, businesses, and volunteers involved. Looking to start a program already in use in Margate where portions of the beach are "adopted". There families can adopt a strip of beach for $250 for two summers. A metal sign is then placed letting visitors know of the adoption, and the family maintains the beach by not only cleaning it but by also monitoring it's visitors. The money goes toward the purchase of new beach recycling bins and signs.By involving businesses, they intend to make the program free to join.
It's truly hard to believe in a state where just about every shore town not only charges for beach admission, but parking, that $5,000 can't be come up with to clean our beaches twice a year. Maybe the towns could organize volunteers who in exchange for cleaning up the beaches get free admission. That seems like a nice trade off, especially since the people doing the cleaning have a personal interest.
I just hope that by getting businesses involved the shore doesn't get overrun with signs. This beach cleaned by Tom's Landscaping, Tools provided by Home Depot, Garbage Bags by Costco, etc. Last thing we need in this state is more signs, what we do need however are clean beaches.
Hey MTV we got a "Situation" over here, how about some help. Oh wait they just bring trash to the Jersey Shore, they don't clean it up.

Strip Searched Twice For Paid Traffic Fine

When Albert Florence, of New Jersey, headed for dinner at his mother-in law's home with his pregnant wife and young child he made sure he brought along a very important paper with him. A letter showing he had paid a fine from several years ago for fleeing a traffic stop. He had been stopped by police previously and for some reason the fine would show as unpaid and that he had a warrant because of that. The letter had kept him from being arrested during these stops, this night he would not be so lucky.
The Suv his wife was driving was stopped by a NJ State Trooper who discovered the warrant. He produced the letter but was arrested anyway. He was taken to a South Jersey jail in Burlington County.
If being arrested wasn't bad enough, when he arrived at the jail he was promptly strip searched. He then sat in that jail for six days awaiting a hearing. When he was granted a hearing he was then transferred to another prison, this time in Newark, where he was strip searched again. The next day he was freed by a judge who agreed the fine had been paid and all charges were dropped.
Albert Florence brought suit, not over the arrest, but the strip searches. A federal appeals court ruled that all prisoners can be stripped searched, something very different than most decisions by other courts. The Fourth Amendment of the Constitution doesn't allow for unreasonaable searches. In fact, most courts feel you must be charged with a crime to warrant a strip search. Albert Florence had in their eyes only not paid a fine, not a criminal offense at all.
He is now appealing his case to the Supreme Court. This has been going on for 6 years now as his initial arrest was in March of 2005.
Guess the moral of this story is don't get arrested in the first place in New Jersey. Afterall, you pay the fine you owe, carry a letter stating so, and because there is a backup of getting that imformation into the computer, look what could happen to you. Not just arrested, but strip searched twice, spend 6 days in two jails, and then have a court tell you that everything they did to you was ok.
Pretty scary stuff. So if you have any outstanding tickets, better make sure you take care of them. Can only imagine what could happen to you if you actually don't pay the fine.

The Real Race Season is Almost Here, Show the Love

While New Egypt Speedway had their first race yesterday, the real race season is actually just about to begin. Don't get me wrong I really like the action at New Egypt, but Wall Stadium and the Nascar Whelen Modified Tour are my true loves.
Wall Stadium will have it's first practice session this coming Saturday, April 2nd, which is free to the public, with it's opening day scheduled for April 16th. We really need to get out and support the track's new promoter, Cliff Krause, so Wall is around for many years to come.
The Modified Tour gets under way with the "Icebreaker" at Thompson on April 10th. The racing on the tour should be the best in years as a great mix of veteran and younger talent all have great rides.

So make sure you check out the action, and if you need to show your love check out the hat and shirts available in the JERZEEBABY Store shown here.

End of the World May 21

Because I know so many of you have extremely busy lives I have managed to find out exactly when the world ends, May 21st. That is if you believe Edwin Ramos, a Vineland resident who has taken some extreme measures recently.
He gave his business, American Industrial Contractors, to his father about 8 months ago. He also traded a truck he owned for an RV which he wrapped with his message of doom. He has moved his wife and three kids into his parents house and put his home up for sale, hoping to use the money to sustain them and spread the word until the end comes, May 21st.
He claims careful reading of the Bible has led him to believe May 21 is the date of the great flood in the story of Noah.
While we brush people like this off as kooks or just plain crazy, I'm sure he might find some believers in Japan. Maybe I should look into that boat, afterall.

Mayor Plummets to his Death

The mayor of the borough of Rutledge, Pennsylvania, just outside of Philadelphia fell to his death in Southern New Jersey while skydiving on Friday. Carter Scott Shields, 45, was skydiving with a group known as Freefall Adventures, when his primary chute didn't deploy and his backup did. not fully open. His body was found in a wooded area near the Cross Keys Airport in Monroe Township, where the group is based.
What a horrible way to die, our thoughts are with his family

Fake Drugs Sold By Jersey Shore Couple on Internet

A Jersey Shore couple, Brian Parker, 27, of Brielle, and Michelle Pfieffer, 24 of Toms River, have been charged with conspiracy to misbrand and sell drugs illegally and failure to register a drug manufacturing facility. The two advertised on websites and message boards, used mainly by bodybuilders and athletes, various performance enhancing drugs. They offered human growth hormones, which were not approved by the FDA, and fake Cialis, Viagra, and a combination of the two called Superman. All the drugs were manufactured in Parker's basement and were actually imitations.
This story goes to show you the danger of buying anything over the internet unless it is from a reputable source. However, people who are already looking to skirt the law, are already willing to take more chances than most of us are. I can't believe someone didn't die as a result of this. I'm sure the potential customers were ok with the drugs possibly being stolen, but made in someone's basement.?

Mega Millions Winning Tips For Tonight's $312 Million Jackpot

The Mega Millions jackpot is estimated to be $312 million for tonight's drawing. That is not only a life changing number, but a family history changing number. Winning a jackpot of that size would probably ensure that not only you wouldn't have to work for the rest of your life, but your children, their children, and so on.
If you haven't bought your tickets yet a 7-time winner, Richard Lustig, offers some tips. First, always pick your own numbers, never let the machine. Pick numbers that have never won before and then stick with them, nothing worse than seeing numbers you used to play win.
For more tips you might want to check out his book, I provided a link for it through Amazon. Good luck, and remember me if any of these tips helped!

Build A Sandcastle, Go To Jail

Belmar, a shore town that has hosted a sandcastle contest for 24 years, just recently reversed a little known town law concerning it's beaches. The law required people to first receive written permission from the town council if they planned to build something from sand. The town now only requires you to level the sand before you leave the beach.
That must of been a really old law, back from a time when you could actually get the town council to do something for you. Amazing how time change things, sometimes for the better, other times for the worse.

Meet MTV'S Jersey Shore Sammi the Sweetheart

Sammi, one of the few Jerseyans actually on MTV'S Jersey Shore, will be making a personal appearance, amazingly enough in Jersey. She will be promoting her new fragrance at the Mandee store in the Jersey Garden Mall on April 2 at 6PM. Wonder if Ronnie will be lurking?

Marijuana Winners Announced

The state of NJ has announced the six nonprofits they have chosen to grow and distribute medical marijuana in the state. The distribution centers will be located in Manalapan, New Brunswick, Bellmawr, Secaucus, Montclair, and a site to be determined in Burlington or Camden County.
Grow sites have not been announced, but we are now truly the Garden State. Maybe they can grow it along the Turnpike, wouldn't that give our state a whole new reputatiom? Couldn't you just see the cars pulled to the side of the road with people trying to climb the fence.
Also, have to wonder how the towns that "won" feel about it? Will they battle over who grows the best? So where do you get yours? Really, heard Manalapan's stuff is the best!

Designer Dresses At Discount Prices

So you need a beautiful new dress for a very important date coming up in the very near future. Should you go to the mall, your favorite local dress shop, or even make the trip into New York. How about Target?
Yes, Target. The discount retailer is bringing back their "Go International" line for it's fifth and possibly last time. For the line Target has contracted with some of the world's most well known dress designers to create affordable gowns in limited numbers.
The dresses will range in price from $24.99 to $44.99, but will only be available until April 10th. Some of the designers are Zac Posen, Jovovich-Hawk, Richard Chai, Rodarte, and more.
This is a great opportunity to get a designer gown at an incredible price, and if you're worried what to say when someone asks you where you got it, just take a ride into the city. So you can honestly say, "New York"

Help Wanted: Grow Marijuana in New Jersey

The state of New Jersey is scheduled to release a list of non profits it has given permission to grow medical marijuana in the state today. There are supposed to be six organizations receiving licenses to grow and distribute it, with loctions in North, Central, and Southern New Jersey.
The only problem is due to the strict regulation put on process several of the organizations that expressed interest have pulled out. There may actually be a shortage of pot growers in of all places, the Garden State. So if you have any experience and want to get in on the ground floor of a new and exciting business opportunity, get yourself in touch with the boss, I mean the governor, Big Chris, I mean Chris Christie.
I notice they aren't claiming a shortage in product testers, must have already hired Snoop Dogg.

New Jersey's Best Kept Secret

New Jersey has lots of things to be proud of. The Garden State is home to the Jets, Giants, Devils, and Nets. We have produced more than our fair share of musical talent. People like Bruce Springsteen, Bon Jovi, Frank Sinatra and many more. We supply the world with eggplants, tomatoes, corn, and cranberries. We have the most malls per square mile of any state, but you probably guessed that.
The best kept secret about NJ is the place or person you know, but the rest of us don't. My number one objective with this blog is to get the word out about great places, events, and people in NJ.
Please take the time to be a follower of JERZEEBABY by clicking on the follow button to the right. I will pass along all my great finds and those that you tell me about. I have lived in NJ my whole life and am constantly amazed by what our state has to offer, and I'm sure you know of many more incredible places and people. I can't wait to hear from you!

Rising Seas Threaten New Jersey

Acoording to Melanie Reding, the educational coordinator for the Jacques Cousteau Educational Center in Egg Harbor Township the sea level at Atlantic City has risen 14 inches since 1912. She attributes this to global warming.
The real problem with rising seas in NJ is that 60% of our population is considered to be living in coastal regions. While the rising sea level doesn't pose any real threat to most of us Jerseyans if it continues on at about an inch every 10 years, it still is concerning.
Anyone who has been a regular down the Jersey Shore for most of their life, like me, can see the differences. The beaches just aren't as wide as they once were, especially in spots where the sand isn't replenished. This has got to be most concerning to those who not only live near the water but also make their livings there.
The Jersey Shore will always exist, I just hope it doesn't move too far inward. On second thought, if I stay where I am long enough maybe I won't have to buy a beach house, the beach may come to me.

Prom Dreams Fulfilled

There is a great story today on APP.com about Cinderella's Closet. If you have never heard of them, you are not alone. I had no idea about their existence and the great service they provide to young girls looking to attend their prom.
They are a non profit that provides clothes, shoes, etc. to youngsters looking to attend their prom, but maybe not having the funds to look as nice as they deserve to look on this big day. I'm sure they would appreciate any donations they can get, especially lightly used prom outfits that might sit in a closet for years.
Check out the full story at the APP link and the charity at the Cinderella's Closet link above and maybe help a young girl have the prom of her dreams.

New Egypt Speedway will be presenting it's Cabin Fever Challenge, a 60 lap race for dirt modifieds that will bring many of the Northeast's top drivers to the track looking for an early season payday. The drag strip will be lined with beautiful and often rare cars and trucks for you to check out, and the area surrounding the track is filled with vendors. For more info check out 29th Annual Spring Swap Meet and Car Show

$20,000 Average Property Tax, Really?

The latest property tax figures are out for the state of New Jersey, and some of the numbers are staggering. The average homeowner faced a 4.1% increase in 2010 over 2009, the highest increase since 2007. The most staggering numbers in the report had to be the list of highest average propert taxes.
Tavistock, a small community in Camden County topped the list at $20,565 a year followed closely by Loch Arbor Village in Monmouth County at $19.904.
These numbers are unbelievable, including the average for the state which is $7,576, no wonder so many people are looking to leave this great state. They have too! I may be the biggest booster of New Jersey around, but even I might be forced out if this isn't fixed.
Let's hope things do get fixed and I can raise my son in a state where you are only a short drive fom the beach, the mountains, and New York City. What other state can say that? Just JERZEEBABY!

Christie and Booker To Be Presidential Running Mates

New Jersey Governor Chis Christie was back in Newark again. This time to announce the state hoped to have a new school superintendent, for the Newark school district, in place by May. Chris Christie and Newark Mayor Cory Booker seem to have become very tight over the past year, making one wonder are bigger things in the works?
Chris Christie is already the darling of the Republican party. His tough stance on education, taxes, and pension and healthcare reform are being echoed by many in the party as the only way to fix the problems facing most towns in America.
Cory Booker is an intelligent, well-spoken minority who many feel has a bright political future. If he can make significant improvements to Newark, his stay there may not be long.
One has to wonder if the plan has already been put into place for Chris Christie and Cory Booker to be running mates in if not the next presidential election, but then the following. Would the Republican party endorse a ticket where both candidates were from New Jersey? Maybe if the candidates were as strong as these two could potentially be.
I guess only the future knows, and maybe Christie and Booker.

Golf season is almost here, and if your a player then you know one of the most frustrating parts of the game can be putting. Improving this aspect of your game is probably the fastest way to drop your score. If you are really serious about your game the you need to check out this book.

App For Pet Friendly Sites

If you are a pet owner, then you know the tough decisions that come when it's time for vacation. Do you take the pet with, leave it in the care of friends, or try to find a place to board it?
Well now there is an App for that. PawTrotter give you access to more than 130,000 pet friendly sites for $2.99. You get information on parks, beaches, hotels, grooming, vets, boarding, and even pet stores.
Another great feature of the app is the developers are donating 5% of their profits to the American Humane Society.

Boardwalk Empire Coming To Resorts

The casinos of Atlantic City are struggling against both a tough economy and increased competition from neighboring states. Resorts, obviously looking to capitalize on the success of the HBO show Boardwalk Empire, is undergoing a $31 million renovation bringing back the look and feel of the Roaring Twenties.
The building is not the only thing getting a makeover. Cocktail waitresses will wear flapper dresses and dealers, bellmen, butlers, and valets will also wear period appropriate uniforms.
People like new, which is why you see diners constantly being renovated, but it only lasts so long. Free and winners is what gets people to come back. Free drinks, meals and other comps go a long way, but if they really want more repeat business then swing the odds a little more in the players favor. No telling how many customers the story of a winner could generate.

Snooki Takes On The WWE Divas

Snooki of MTV's Jersey Shore added to her resume last night by appearing on WWE Monday Night Raw. The short, stout, reality star actually faced off against several of the Divas. The recent article featuring her in Rolling Stone stated she gets anywhere from $15,000 to $25,000 an appearance. One has to wonder what last night cost Vince McMahon.
Like her or not one has to admire Snooki for riding the wave for all it's worth. Afterall, how long before she's just an overweight, New York housewife. Oh wait, that's a show too, isn't it?

Jersey Mom Sentenced To Three Years In Prison For Clubbing, Too Long?

A 21 year old mom from Jersey City has been sentenced to three years in prison for leaving her three children home alone while she went clubbing in Manhattan. The children ages 3,2, and 7 months at the time were unharmed. The website NJ.com is asking for your opinion on whether the sentence is too long or not.
Really? Too long? She's lucky I wasn't the judge. I would of sentenced her to life of changing adult diapers at an adult care center. Then I would of made her have a hysterectomy, so she couldn't ever have any more children.
I know that's not politically correct, but I'm the dad of a three year old who has not had one night out since he was born. My responsibility in life is now him first. I haven't even had an alcoholic drink in almost 4 years since all I think about is what if. What if my son actually had an accident and I had alcohol on my breath? What if I drank, passed out, and something happened?
Leave your children home alone? I'm scared to leave my son alone for a minute. And NJ.com wants to debate if the sentence is too long!

Pizza Deals For Monday

It's Monday, and in New Jersey that means great deals on pizza I don't think there is one pizza place in the state that doesn't have some kind of special today. However, before you run out to grab that delicious dinner you might want to read  Eat Some Pizza Save Some Money so you don't fall into the pitfalls of an inexpensive dinner turning into a pricey night. Believe me it's hard to resist all those additional appetizers, but it can be done.

Sopranos 2 Coming Featuring Rabbis ?

A book set to go on sale Tuesday, The Jersey Sting, tells the true story of corrupt politicians, money laundering rabbis, and even black market kidneys. It tells the inside story of Solomon Dwek who defrauded a bank out of millions and then became an undercover informant for the FBI. The investigation ended up bringing down many high ranking politicians.
It's not only the bribes and corruption that give it a serious Soprano feel. All of this takes place in, where else, but New Jersey. How long will it be before the book is turned into a television series? This time instead of featuring Italians it looks like it's time to feature the Jewish community.
With shows like the Sopranos, Boardwalk Empire, and now this book, I'm beginning to wonder does Jersey have the market cornered on corruption? Maybe we should change how we are known, forget Garden State. New Jersey the corruption state, and how about New Jersey and corruption, perfect together.
I guess it could be worse, we could be Delaware.

NJ Doctor Admits To Smoking 30 Joints A Day

The neighbors of Edwin Bliss Stuve, 63,a former medical doctor, were concerned about his recent behavior and notified the Chatham police. When police arrived they asked him if he would consent to a mental health exam and he agreed to go with them. While there the police noticed an overwhelming marijuana smell and returned with a search warrant. They found 58 plants upon their return.
When questioned Stuve told police he had been smoking up to 30 joints a day and wasn't getting much else done. He also claimed he used the marijuana to treat glaucoma and mild brain damage.
The doctor has been admitted to a program where he will be supervised by the mental health department for the next 5 years. When asked by his judge if he was guilty, Stuve replied "Guilty as sin"
I can only imagine this guy being your doctor, weed and mild brain damage. Would probably be like a combination of Cheech and Chong and Gary Busey. However, you wouldn't have to go to the drug store to fill your prescription, he was growing it right in his office.

How I Earn Money From Home, Doing Something I Enjoy

I worked a dead end job for more than 20 years, and when I say dead end I mean there was a 100 foot wall at the end of the street. I joined a well respected company, at the time but no longer, in it's industry in an entry level position. Through hard work and long hours I progressed up to a management position, where my pay was good, but not great.
Problem was the position I advanced to was pretty much the end of the line. The only people above me were two vice presidents and the president. Despite their poor performance in running the company, something made more and more evident with every passing day, the owner would never remove them. I had advanced as far as I could go.
After banging my head on the corporate ceiling for years, I parted ways with the company. My fiance had been presented with a great opportunity and my way of supporting her was to be the primary caregiver for our three year old son.
Since he was enrolled in preschool 3 days a week this gave me some free time. It was during this time that I started writing a blog. Sure I put the Google Adsense ads on it, but I wasn't looking to earn any money, just express my opinions. One day one of my blog posts generated a lot of interest. The post brought me comments supporting my position and opposing it. Most importantly, however, it lit the fire for me to do more writing.
I expanded my writing to anywhere I could pretty much get published. I have now settled into writing almost exclusively for Yahoo and my blogs. While I currently don't generate enough income from my writing to support my household by myself, it does provide really nice extra income. The internet is in desperate need for content and there are plenty of places to get started filling this need.
If you are a frustrated writer, opinionated, or are just looking for a way to earn some extra money, then writing for the internet may be for you. I will even let you in on some secrets. First, you need to be patient both people and the mighty search engines will take time to find you. In fact you may think no one is reading your stuff for a long time. Next thing you know your viewership will steadily increase.
The biggest thing I learned was to write what you know not what you think people want to read about. When I started I wrote about whatever was trending, problem was so did everyone else. I had to compete against many many blogs and articles. When I wrote about something local and of interest to me I got my biggest viewership. Write what you enjoy, it will translate into income.
Once you get comfortable in your writing the next most important thing is volume. Pay for individual articles can be low, however, multiply that by multiple articles and you will be surprised how fast and how much extra income you will be earning.
I have researched most work from home programs and the only one I truly found capable of generating any "real" money is writing. So if your a frustrated writer, have opinions you would like to share, or are just a good storyteller the writing for profit from home is something you might want to try. I am always here for advice on the subject so don't be afraid to ask and good luck.

Ever See A Band Play On The Bowling Lanes?

There are many ways and places to see a band. You could head down to Jenkinsons, the Stone Pony, or even Madison Square Garden, but have you ever seen a band play on a bowling alley?
Friday March 25 you will have your chance at Asbury Lanes in Asbury Park NJ. This is not your average bowling alley, or concert venue. The bands play on a stage constructed on top of the lanes, while the remaining lanes are open to anyone wishing to bowl. You can grab a beer, knock down some pins, and hear some great music, all in one place.
On this particular Friday night a personal friend of mine, Doug Vizthum, will be playing with his band Bad Karma. If you know Doug, then you know this will be a fun evening. If you don't then introduce yourself, but make sure you buy him a beer too! Also appearing will be the Rib Eye Brothers and Holmes.
Asbury Lanes is located at 209 4th Ave. and the fun starts around 9PM.

Born Wright Living Wrong

In a story from the Asbury Park Press two suspects were arrested and charged in a robbery and aggravated assault when they broke into a Freehold home and robbed three individuals. While the crime isn't funny, the name of one of the suspects is Born Wright. Maybe he should change his name to Living Wrong.

Where Do Eggplants Come From?

This is a blog all about New Jersey isn't it? So of course eggplants come from NJ, at least most of them. Two thirds of all the eggplants consumed in the world come from JERZEEBABY.
Some other little known facts about NJ are, we are the only state with an official demon, the Jersey Devil. New Jersey was also the site of the first drive up window in 1762. The Seven Stars Tavern had a window where you could ride up on horseback and pick up your meal.
We are also the final resting place of not only the famous MGM lion, Leo, buried in Morris County, but also Elsie the Borden cow buried in Mercer County.
Just thought I would throw some little known NJ trivia at you. If you want to read up on some of the stranger things to have happened in the state, you might want to pick up a copy of the Weird NJ book, a pretty fun read.

New Jersey's Worst Storm Ever

The weather in NJ is horrible today, rain, rain, and more rain. The governor, Chris Christie, has even declared a state of emergency to mobilize the National Guard and State Police in anticipation of a severe flooding problem.
However, no matter how bad we think the weather is today it pales in comparison to the worst storm on record in the state's history. You may be surprised by the fact that this storm struck the state in March. The date was March 12, 1888 to be exact. The storm lasted several days with not only significant snowfall but also winds in excess of 100mph.
By the time the storm was over 24 inches of snow had fell, with the wind creating snow drifts reported as high as 52 feet tall. The Great White Hurricane, as it was called, was responsible for 800 deaths and more than $25 million in property damage.
So while we get soaked today and deal with some flooding just think how much worse it could be. Afterall, this rain could be snow, and I don't know about you but I'm done with that this year, I hope!

No Cigar For Rutgers

Close but no cigar, best sums up the finish of today's Rutgers versus St. Johns game in the second round of the Big East Tournament for the Scarlet Knights. The final score of 65 to 63 doesn't begin to tell the heartbreak of the Rutgers faithful, as they actually led by one with less than a minute to play.
First year coach Mike Rice had the team playing tough defense again, and showing a never say quit attitude that would probably best describe this team's season. While this loss will sting for a little while, for the first time in a long time I can honestly say I can't wait for next season.
Rutgers may have finally found the right coach, let's just hope he can recruit just as well as he leads his team. Who knows maybe this is the man who will bring a Big East Championship and NCAA bid to JERZEEBABY!

Snooki On The Cover Of Rolling Stone, Really?!

I really thought I must have been in a terrible nightmare as I walked past the magazine rack at Barnes and Noble and saw the latest edition of Rolling Stone magazine featuring Snooki from MTV's Jersey Shore on the cover. To make it worse her belly fat is showing and she has a rather large rocket between her legs.
Rolling Stone used to be a must read if you were into music. They had interviews with people who were muscians and relevant, Snooki is neither. I realize it's done to sell magazines and thanks to the internet that is getting harder to do every day, but Snooki? Why not Charlie Sheen he leads a rockstar's life and at least he's funny.
Maybe they should have called this edition Fat Rolls, not Rolling Stone!
