Snooki Arrested in Italy

We all knew it was only a matter of time, but the first castmember of MTV's Jersey Shore was arrested in Italy, and surprise, it was Snooki.
The same Snooki who was arrested for drunk and disorderly on the beach in Seaside Heights, was arrested in Italy for crashing into the back of a police car.
The most amazing aspect of all this may just be that alcohol was not involved.

Memorial Day Weekend Sunday With My Son

Like father, like son. No day of the year might that be more true for my son and myself han the Sunday of Memorial Day weekend. Why that day you ask? Because there is no other day of the year when there is more big-time auto racing on television than this day. And I am proud to say I have created a certified racing nut in my son.
Our Sunday schedule will be something along these lines. Watching the Formula 1 race from Monaco at 7AM until just a little past 10AM. During that time we will have our breakfast together. At the conclusion of the Formula one race, it's shower time and then out the door.
Before you think I'm the kind of father who would keep his son inside all day on a bright, sunny day like this, next on our schedule is The Camden Children's Garden. By living on the Camden Waterfront we are literally across the street from the Children's Garden, along with the Adventure Aquarium, and the Battleship New Jersey.
The Children's Garden has dancing water, great on a day like this, a train to ride on, a carousel, mazes, and a view of the penguin area of the aquarium. We did all that and managed to see the feeding of the penguins, all by noon.
Next on the schedule is more racing. We settle into lunch as we prepare for the start of the Indy 500. This will take up most of our afternoon, and my son will probably take a nap during the race. Hopefully he will awake in time to see the finish of the Indy 500, and the start of the Nascar Coca-Cola 600.
Sometime during this time we will do some dinner, and the reading of some books. With our day ending well into the night, we will both go to bed happy.
  LIKE FATHER LIKE SON!

My Son's Picture Makes It Onto a Yahoo Article

Some of you may know that I write for several different internet sites. One of those is Yahoo. I was recently reviewing some articles I had previously written and came across this article with my son's picture. To be honest with you I had practically forgotten I had written it and that it had his photo. Needless to say, this is again my favorite article.
They grow up so fast may be the truest words ever spoken. He will be four in a few months and has matured incredibly. He is super independent and even told me today he is going to take a plane to Philadelphia by himself. Being we only live across the Delaware River from Philly, I would probably be concerned if he said he was going to swim there.
Pretty cool to think his image will be on the internet forever. Hope I get to show him it when he becomes a teenager. He will hate that.

Martell's Tiki Bar Deal and More

Memorial Day weekend is here, and it looks like we are going to have great weather here in New Jersey. The choices of things to do are really unlimited, but should certainly include some outdoor time.
One of the things us Jerseyans love to do once Memorial Day weekend arrives is head to the Jersey Shore. Whether it is the beaches of Sandy Hook, with it's view of New York City, or the free, wide beaches of Wildwood, or anywhere between, there is surely a beach for everyone in our state.
My personal favorite is Point Pleasant. The beaches are clean, there are great rides and games for my son, and of course the great food. If you are anything like me then you need to check out this Martell's Tiki Bar Deal that I had emailed to me. You can purchase a $50 certificate for use there for only $25. When do you ever get a 50% discount on a meal, especially one at Martell's?
Another offer I had emailed to me which I thought was very intriguing was a $40 certificate for only$20 good towards a whale and dolphin watching trip off of Cape May. The offer, along with many more, is available at the KGB deals.
I hope you will be able to take advantage of these specials, if not this weekend, then in the near future. Meanwhile get out this weekend and enjoy this great state of JERZEEBABY!

Dale Earnhardt Jr./Martin Truex Jr. Cribs Episode

New Jersey has many famous residents and many celebrities who were born in the Garden State and gone on to do great things. When it comes to auto racing, Martin Truex Jr. is currently NJ's biggest star. The Mayetta born driver currently competes for Michael Waltrip Racing in the Sprint Cup Series.
However, when he first made the move to the big time it was with Dale Earnhardt Jr. and his father's DEI team. The two drivers had much in common as both came from racing families. They became and remain good friends.
While trolling Amazon I came across this video of an episode of Cribs on CMT that features not only Dale Jr., but also Jersey's own Martin Truex Jr. You can click the link to get a free preview.
Who knew a Jersey racer would ever be on Cribs?

Credit Card That Allows You to Track Your Kid's Spending

If you are a parent who gives your child an allowance, then you need to check out this credit card that not only allows you to load their allowance, but also track how they spend it. The benefits of giving your child a credit card over cash are primarily safety from them losing the money, as well as them knowing you will be able to know where they spent their money.
The Bill My Parents credit card goes way beyond that. The card will actually send you a real-time text or email letting you know where your child is attempting to make a purchase. You then have the option of allowing it or "freezing" the card. This cannot only be helpful in stopping your child from wasting their money, but also give you some insight into what they may be getting into.
The card can also be loaded by friends and relatives for special occassions like birthdays or graduation.

Beautiful Day on the Camden Waterfront

Finally, the sun is out. If this is what the end of the world looks like, then sign me up for the Rapture. I am also lucky enough to live on the Camden Waterfront, with a spectacular view of Philadelphia, just across the Delaware River.
Being that mom is away today, it will be a father and son day. We are planning to take a walk over to the Camden Riversharks baseball stadium located just under the Ben Franklin Bridge. On game days, the stadium is usually open for us to walk in and check out the men getting the field ready.
From there we will make our way along the beautifully bricked walkway next to the Delaware and head toward the Camden Aquarium. We won't be going to the aquarium today, however. Living just across the street from it, we only go on weekdays when the crowds are smaller. If you have never been to the Adventure Aquarium, it's real name, you really need to plan a trip there. It is truly amazing.
After passing the aquarium, we will head toward the Battleship NJ, which is docked on the Camden side of the Delaware. The sheer size of this ship is amazing, my son loves to look at it. We have yet to go aboard, he's only three and I think he would probably get bored halfway through the tour.
The Battleship is our turn around point. From there we will make our way past the boat docks and toward the Camden Childrens Garden. If you have young children, and are visiting the aquarium on the weekend you should check out the Childrens Garden. They have a train, you can ride on, a carousel, mazes, dancing water, and a butterfly house. We will definitely be stopping there.
Our next destination is actually located on the first floor of our building. Ritas, my so cannot go home without his vanilla cup. It may be hard for someone to believe that we enjoy living in Camden, but tell me can you do any of what we are doing today by just walking around the neighborhood? Didn't think so.

Weird NJ Amusements Video

I have long been a fan of the guys at Weird NJ. I used to pick up copies of their magazines at the newstands. Then I got their book as a present. If you have not had a chance to check it out, do yourself a favor and get a copy. There is seemingly a place in just about everyone's neighborhood in the book, and most times you never even knew they existed. Much more than a book, it then becomes field trips to check out the places that interest you.
Again, I can not begin to tell you how entertaining all this stuff ends up being, even if it is just urban legends, or are they?

Camden Aquarium One of my Favorite Places in Jersey

I live in Camden, yes the same Camden you hear about as being one of the poorest cities in America. Yes the Camden that is known for it's drug dealers and prostitutes. What you don't hear about is the nice part of Camden, where I live, the Camden Waterfront.
I live in a luxury apartment with a view of Philadelphia, and the Ben Franklin Bridge. My neighbors are the beautiful campus of Rutgers-Camden, the baseball stadium of the Camden Riversharks, and the Adventure Aquarium.
As the father of a three year old, and avid fish lover, you would think I would spend a lot of time at the aquarium. Sadly, that isn't so, but we did get to visit it again this past Monday. I don't know who enjoyed it more myself, or my son, I, honestly, think it was me since nothing beats seeing the look on his face every time he sees those penguins or hippos.
If you haven't visited this treasure of the Garden State, do yourself and your kids a favor and get down here soon. Don't be put-off by anything you hear about Camden. The aquarium is located in a very nice area right on the Delaware River. In fact, my son and I walk the waterfront at least three times a week.
The Adventure Aquarium link above is to an article I wrote for Yahoo with all the details you will need to know, such as hours of operation, ticket prices, and features. Check it out for yourself, you won't be disappointed.

Looking for Something to do Every Weekend in New Jersey?

As many of you know who read this blog, I pretty much love just about everything about New Jersey. What many of you might not know is that I spend many of my days sitting in a Barnes and Noble, sipping my Starbucks coffee, while writing.
Most days I have so much to write I rarely leave my spot near the window, with the exceptions of trips to the bathroom. A side effect of all that coffee. Today, however, was an exception.
It wasn't like I didn't have plenty to write about, rather I had a job to do from an even higher figure than any of the editors at Yahoo or NJ.com. The mother of my child had instructed me to research several weekend activities, her, I, and our son could all do together.
Rather than just type some words into Google, I headed for the New Jersey section of the Barnes and Noble. Much to my surprise, there was an impressive selection of books not only on our great state, but things to do in it.
One book in particular I found to be both very helpful and imformative. "52 Weekends in New Jersey" by Mitch Kaplan, not only gave suggestions on possible activities in the Garden State, but also reviews of what the destination or activity had to offer. I included a link to it through Amazon at a price about $8 less than the bookstore.
I am already making plans for upcoming weekends based on this book. Click on the link included to check it out. Maybe we'll run into each other in JERZEEBABY.

Iconic Boyz Video, Jersey Boys Need Our Help

I am a back seat viewer of MTV's Americas Best Dance Crew. My Fiance is a big fan of the show, which features dance crews from all over the world competing against each other each week. They are each assigned a song from a particular artist each week, and must come up with a dance routine for it. Artists such as Lady GaGa or Justin Bieber are usually featured. While this type of show is not really my thing, one group caught my eye.
The Iconic Boyz are a group of  mostly ten year olds from Englishtown, New Jersey. You mention anything Jersey, and you pretty much have my attention, but these kids are truly amazing. The moves and choreography are incredible at any age.
Much like American Idol, Americas Best Dance Crew uses the votes of the viewers along with the opinion of the judges to decide who stays another week or who goes. The Iconic Boyz have made it incredibly far already, but I think we should do our part towards helping them win.
The show airs on MTV on Thursday nights at 10PM. Immediately following the show the voting starts. Tune in and check out these kids who are representing the state of NJ so well, and VOTE!
I have included a video for you to check out. Good luck guys!

Happy Mothers Day To All The Jersey Moms

It's Mothers Day this beautiful Sunday in New Jersey. The one day of the year when we try to make up to Mom for all the things we put her through. Some of us will take our Moms out for a nice meal or maybe invite her over for a bbq. We may buy her a card and some nice flowers. The choices are truly endless as long as we are as nice as possible.
I, personally, have decided to continue a tradition I started while still in my teens. I'm not going to share with my mom all the bad things I have done in my life she has no idea about. The bar fight in the Fastlane in Asbury Park. The night the last thing I remember is buying a pitcher of beer with a young lady at the Stone Pony, and waking up on the pool table, to find my friend passed out in a corner of the bar. Then taking turns driving home, how we made it I will never know.
Then there is the night when I arrived home after having a really good night, you know what I mean, with my then girlfriend to find a taxi in my driveway. When the door opened and it was a girl I had wanted to date for years, I knew this was going to be a night you tell all your buddies about, but not your mom. And it was, but that's a story for another day.
Needless  to say, I was by no means the perfect son. I definitely did more than my share of things that my mom would not be proud of. However, the one thing I did do was manage to keep her in the dark about many of my transgressions. That is the greatest gift I have ever given my mom.
So when my mom says, "You shouldn't have" and I reply, "Trust me, I should have done more", she has no clue how much I mean that!
Happy Mothers Day to all the moms out there, luckily for me my mom doesn't have a computer. So if you know her don't print this up for her. You wouldn't want to mess up a longstanding tradition. What mom doesn't know won't hurt her, now that's the perfect Mothers Day gift.

Yes New Jersey Has Stock Car Racing

I have been a regular at many of the various stock car tracks located in New Jersey most of my life. Yes, New Jersey has stock car racing. It has dirt tracks, an asphalt oval, an asphalt road course, and it even has hosted a Nascar Craftsman Truck Series  race not too many years ago at the since closed Flemington Speedway.
When it came time for me to take my three year old son to an actually race for the first time, my choice was a natural one for me, Wall Stadium. The 1/3 mile high banked oval located in Belmar, down the Jersey Shore, was the sight of my first race. I went there with my father, and now I got to take my son. When we arrived at the track for it's Opening Night, we were joined by a friend and his daughter, and my brother, his girlfriend, and her young daughter.
A short time after their arrival, I was greeted with the question I get from most first time local track race attendees. My brother's girlfriend asked, "Is Dale Earnhardt Jr. here?" Needless to say he wasn't.
Her initial disappointment was quickly replaced by her enjoyment of the night's races. The Legend cars zipped around the track, their small size making the track look like a superspeedway. The Street Stocks banged doors all the way around the track, reminding me of how Nascar used to be. And the Modifieds, an open wheel car actually faster than Sprint Cup cars, put on a race Nascar wished they got every week on television.
Yes New Jersey has stock car racing, and if you are a Nascar fan and haven't yet visited one of these tracks, you are truly missing out. The racing on most nights is much, much better than anything you'll see on a Nascar telecast. Do yourself a favor and get out to Wall Stadium, New Egypt Speedway, or Bridgeport Speedway.

$5 Experiment Can We Bankrupt An Online Survey Company ?

I recently received an email from an online survey company. The email claimed for every person I could get to use my link to join, they would credit me $5. I would like to put this to the test, click the link below and join. I'm sure if you're really not interested in the surveys you can just stop the emails. If this works I will do the same for you. Let's see if we can bankrupt this company and if they really pay. Click the link below!
