Today I get to combine the two with a great offer from their website. A $20 coupon to the PeterPank Diner in Sayreville for only $10. If your unfamiliar with how the website works I  explained it in a previous post  New Jersey Great Deals Available check it out it's a great way to save in your neighborhood.

$5 Miliion Won On Penny Slots At Borgata

An Ocean County man, who wishes to remain anonymous, won almost $5 million at the Borgata in Atlantic City on Thursday. The man's jackpot came while playing a progressive penny slot machine, The Wizard of Oz Ruby Slippers.
I never even knew those penny and nickle machines were progressive and could pay out that amount of money. That's a lot of pennies being played to make a jackpot of $5 million. I always thought those machines were either for people who wanted to gamble, but just didn't have the money, or for just killing time. I know I will never look at those machimes the same again. I might even actually play one, if I can get a seat. Wonder if you need gray hair to play?

The shirt is available at the Jerzeebaby Store in many different styles and colors, check it out!

New Jersey Great Deals Available

I recently happened upon a great website NJBestBuys.com that can really save you some money at places you may already frequent. The site and the idea are pretty simple. You subscribe using your email for your county or area of New Jersey. They then send you an email every day with a new deal for your area.
The deals are for anywhere from 50% to 90% off the regular price of restaurants, spas, events, and other goodies. If you are interested in the deal you "buy it" and if the minimum number of "buys" is reached the deal becomes active. You can then print the coupon for use. Only if a deal becomes active will you be charged.
You can also earn $10 in Dealbucks every time a friend you refer via Facebook, Twitter, or email purchases an active deal. The Dealbucks can be used toward future purchases. This is a great way to save some money at local restaurants, share the deal with friends, and build up some equity toward more future deals.
An example of one of today's deals is, a $25 gift certificate for $12.50 at Ciccone's Italian Deli in Old Bridge, NJ. Another of today's deals has $25 worth of clothes for $12.50 at Christy's Closet Clothing Boutique in Manahawkin.
Sign up at the site today and start enjoying great deals. Also, make sure you become a follower here at JERZEEBABY to find out more great things about NJ.

Let's Go Jets

The last chance for NJ to have a representative in the Super Bowl comes tonight at 6:30PM when the Jets face the Steelers. I really thought this would be the year the Giants and Jets met in the big game, but sadly it was my team that put the dream to rest early. We still have the Jets though. Let's face it we will all watch the Super Bowl anyway, but how much better would it be to be able to cheer on one of our own teams. So let's go Jets!
P.S. Hey Ben some girl is waiting for you in the bathroom, you creep!

Nascar Whelen Modified Tour Preview

If your a big auto racing fan like me then these winter months must be killing you. I can't wait for all the coverage of Daytona to begin, but it's not because I want to hear more about Jimmie Johnson. It's because I know it's also time for the modifieds to roll into New Smyrna.
The Nascar modifieds are the best racing in Nascar, that no one knows about. These open wheel warriors put on the best races you will ever see if you get the chance. The 2011 season really looks exciting, with experienced veterans like Ted Christopher and Mike Stefanik set to battle the young guys led by Matt Hirschman who returns to the series in a great car. Rutgers Over Seton Hall in NJ Battle

The Rutgers men's basketball team defeated Seton Hall 66-60 this afternoon in a battle between the two NJ schools. It was the first victory for Rutgers over Seton Hall in four games and improved the Scarlet Knights record to (12-7,3-4) and dropped the Pirates to (8-12,2-6).
The new head coach of Rutgers, Mike Rice, really seems to have the program headed in the right direction. Not only has he improved the play on the court, but his recruiting class has been ranked among the top in the nation. Let's hope both programs improve to the point of one day facing each other in the NCAA Tournament.

High Tolls and Bad Roads, Welcome To New Jersey

I had the good fortune, today, of making the trip from Camden, NJ into New York City. A trip that required me to travel on the road that will never be finished, the NJ Turnpike. My trip takes me north from exit 4 to exit 14C, a very scenic route if you consider construction vechicles and State Police cars to be scenic.
Today's trip added a new dimension, potholes. It was like a new game, swerve just enough to miss the giant hole waiting to claim another tire and rim, but not too much so that you end up under the wheels of the tractor trailer keeping pace with me. I really think if you can drive the length of the NJ Turnpike without a major event, you should qualify for a Nascar license.
As I approach the toll plaza, I am faced with my next great reality, the price I get to pay to enjoy this experience. Almost $6 in tolls and another $8 to go through the tunnel. Really?! almost $15 from me alone, no wonder we have the best maintained roads in the country. Oh wait, we don't! Really makes you wonder where all that money goes?
It's no wonder NJ gets such a bad rap nationally. If all I had to judge the state by was my trip down the Turnpike, I wouldn't want to return either. Maybe we should just close the Turnpike down until it is finished, and make people travel on some of our more scenic roads. If people got to see what we as residents get to see everyday I bet we wouldn't be the butt of so many jokes. And maybe, just maybe, they would actually finish the Turnpike. Not in my lifetime!

Increase Your Chances at Winning on Scratch Off Tickets

I recently did alot of research into ways to increase a person's odds at winning any of the games of chance offered by the NJ Lottery. While I did find some ways to increase your odds for winning any of the games where you pick your own numbers like the Pick 3, etc., what I learned about scratch off tickets surprised me the most. I am offering my findings for the low price of $5 for a short time. If you are interested in increasing your odds of winning the big prizes in the scratch off games send a check or money order for $5 to;
                     Jerzeebaby
                     1 Market Street
                     #612

Stop wasting your money buying tickets that have no chance of winning.

Jets Fan Dies in Sanchez Jersey While Celebrating Win

A 46 year old father of two died while celebrating the New York Jets victory over the Patriots Sunday. Ray Larsen was still wearing his Mark Sanchez jersey when he decided to sled down his steep un plowed driveway next to his home on Staten Island. He slid into the street where he was hit by a passing car and later died at the hospital. Alcohol may have been a factor in the Jets season ticket holder's death, as he was drinking while watching the game at a local restaurant.
My sympathy goes out to the family on their loss. I'm sure just the sight of a Sanchez jersey, from now on, will bring great grief.

MTV Jersey Shore Reminder

Don't forget a new episode of MTV's Jersey Shore is on tonite Monday. Don't miss a chance to see what has now become the highest rated reality show in cable television history. I watch cause I long for the summer days, and the memories of my youth.

NJ Musicians List Frank Sinatra,Bruce,Bonjovi, etc.

Maybe I'm prejudiced because I'm from JERZEEBABY, but I really do think no other state has contributed more to the music industry than NJ. I am a graduate of the shore clubs of Asbury Park, Long Branch, and Sea Bright. I was at, one time, a regular at the Birch Hill Nightclub in Old Bridge and a visitor of the New Brunswick scene from time to time. Needless to say I have heard my share of NJ music. I thought I would start a list and let the rest of you add to it. I think we will all say in the end "Wow, I never knew he or she or they were from NJ!" Here goes: Frank Sinatra, Bruce Springsteen, Bonjovi, Smithereens, Queen Latifah, Naughty By Nature, Whitney Houston, Glen Burtnick,Clint Black, who else?

Bruce Springsteen Sighting

Bruce Springsteen showed up unannounced, where else but on stage in Asbury Park, NJ. He joined his good friend Joe Grushecky during the Light of Day concert. The two played for almost 90 minutes and just when the crowd had thought they had seen it all and were preparing to leave, Bruce had another surprise. He turned to the guitar tech and asked for his acoustic guitar. He then proceeded to play a long, slow version of "Thunder Road" to end the night.
Chances are if your from New Jersey, especially the Monmouth County area, either you or someone you know has had a Bruce Springsteen sighting. He is known to attend car shows and just walk the boardwalk. He can be seen attending concerts with his kids. He even tells a story himself of being recognized by a couple as he was leaving a strip club.
I can count myself among those who have had a Bruce sighting. My brother and I had taken a ride down to Asbury Park one day, just to see what was going on with the area. As children our parents had taken us to the shore town to ride the rides and enjoy the beach. When we became older Asbury was a place we went to see some great live music. On this day, after a short walk on the mostly deserted boardwalk, we decided to cross the street to check out the list of upcoming shows posted outside the door of the Stone Pony.
As we stepped onto the street to begin crossing, a motorcyle headed toward us. A black Harley Davidson passed no farther than two feet from us and continued on. My brother and I turned to each other and said at the same time "that was Bruce Springsteen". We had seen the NJ music legend in front of the Stone Pony, pretty cool.
I would love to hear from others who may have had a Bruce sighting. Bruce Springsteen is someone we never get tired of hearing about here in JERZEEBABY.

MTV's Jersey Shore Breaks Rating Record

MTV's hit reality show Jersey Shore broke it's own rating for viewership. The Thursday night episode drew 8.6 million viewers, out drawing even ABC's hit shows "Modern Family" and "Grey's Anatomy". It has become one of the highest rated non sports ad supported shows in history.
Too bad Govenor Christie couldn't convince half that many people to visit the state of NJ this year as tourists. Actually, I wouldn't want to deal with the traffic. Maybe he could make a deal with MTV to get a dollar for every viewer. Then we wouldn't have to worry about the oil slick created if they went in the water either.

Suspect In Lakewood Police Officer Shooting Arrested

A teenager wanted in the fatal shooting of a Lakewood police officer has been captured in Camden NJ. Jahmell Crockham was already wanted at the time of the shooting for a weapons violation, when he was stopped by Officer Christopher Matlosz around 4PM on Friday. According to witnesses he shot and killed the officer while he was still seated in his car.
This guy should never see the light of day again. I am not a proponent of the death penalty since I repeatedly hear of DNA clearing convicted people, hwever, this case is different. If they truly do have eyewitnesses to the execution-style killing of a police officer, I would like to see him face a firing squad. A firing squad made up of the fellow officers of the fallen policeman.
Maybe they should even tape it and air it on YouTube as a future deterrent.

Jersey Shore Breakfast

The newest episodes of MTV's Jersey Shore has the cast back in Seaside, New Jersey. This past Thursday's show had "The Situation" taking a break from his job at the t-shirt shop to go get some breakfast. What did he order? A Jersey favorite, a bacon, egg, and cheese on a hard roll. Even at 10PM that sounded so good to me. Why? Cause I'm from JERZEEBABY!
The south has grits, New York has bagels, and NJ has bacon, egg, and cheese or pork roll, egg, and cheese. Hell if you're really hungry you can even combine it all on one sandwich and call it a bellybuster. If you're from North Jersey you might even have it on a bagel.
Growing up in Jersey, I just took pork roll or Taylor ham for granted. We always had it in the house. Whether we put it on a sandwich or used it as a side with some eggs it was always there. We even had it for lunch sometimes. I had no idea what a NJ thing is was until my aunt came to visit from California. As a former Jersey resident she had pork roll fever. What I found out was California didn't have pork roll. She actually took two rolls home with her. Guess you can take the woman out of NJ, but you can't take away her pork roll.
There is even a company that is shipping pork roll,Jersey Porkroll, all over the country to displaced Jerseyans. Good to know if I ever have to move.
All this talk about pork roll made me hungry, thank goodness I live in JERZEEBABY!

New Racing Shirts & Hats Available At JerzeeBaby

Racing season is coming. New Smyrna, Daytona, then the real racing starts. The Whelen Modified Tour and Wall Stadium. I have been to many Sprint Cup tracks, and even more tracks that run Tour and ROC races. There is no better racing than modified racing. I am truly an asphalt guy, but I would even rank the dirt modifieds ahead of most other forms of racing.
As for racing in New Jersey nothing beats the street stock division at Wall from a purely entertainment value. The beginners pushing up the track, and the veterans pushing their way through. I can't wait for the season to start.

I posted some pictures of some racing gear available at    JERZEEBABY  click the link to check them out.

Wall Stadium To Race In 2011

I literally grew up at Wall Stadium, in Belmar, NJ, spending many of my Saturday nights as a child in the first turn stands with my dad and friends. The track meant even more to me as I grew older, as I became a crew member on a street stock. I took my love for racing and what I learned at Wall to the much larger and faster Flemington Speedway. Here I was part of a team that won a track championship and the biggest race of the time for street stocks, the Race of Champions.
My team and I moved up the ladder to D/A modifieds, where we won, and then to the Nascar modifieds. The team eventually split up and I went on to work on cars that ran on both the ROC Tour and the Nascar Whelen Modified Tour. While I didn't get to Wall often during those years, I never missed a Turkey Derby.
Wall Stadium took on a new meaning for me with the birth of my son. I could no longer spend the late nights working on a car. He took up most of my time, and still does. He went to Wall for the first time when he was 1 and a half. A practice session to see how he would react to the noise of the cars. He seemed to love it. Immediately I flash forwarded to a time when we could sit together in the stands and share our love for the racing. I thought about how great it would be if he showed an interest in racing and we could get a car to compete there with.
The last few years my dreams have nearly been stolen from me by the uncertainity surrounding the track's future. Thankfully, to Cliff Krause, Wall Stadium will race in 2011. I will be in the stands with my three year old hoping the track is around long enough for him and I to make some memories, and who knows, maybe even some history of our own there.
For more details on the near future of Wall Stadium check out    Wall Stadium To Race In 2011

Freehold NJ Beer Coasters

Check out these Freehold beer coasters I found on Amazon. It really is amazing what you stumble upon sometimes. Good timing too with all the great football coming our way. Let's go Jets your Jersey's last chance.

Singing Santa Results In Court Date

The last thing Union Beach, NJ resident, Jill Patella, expected when she put her singing Santa on her lawn was a court appearance, but that's what she got. Due to some neighbor's complaints about the singing she now must appear in court on Feb. 2, and faces a $200 fine.
Can you imagine the judge that has to hear this case. Alll I can think of is the expression that would come accross Judge Judy's face when she read the complaint. If ever there was a case made for television, this might be it. The again just what we need more NJ on t.v.

19 Year Old Charged With 1/5 of Town's Murders

A 19 year old man, Shiquan Bellamy, has been charged with committing a fifth of Jersey City's murders in 2010. He has been charged with 5 of the city's 25 total murders, and is being held on $6 million bail.
This is obviously one bad man who should never see freedom again. I'm sure the residents of Jersey City should be able to slleep a little better.

Housing Security Chief Suspended Over Myspace Page

A 23 year old man, Justin Italo, who holds the title of North Bergen Housing Authority Security Chief has been suspended from his job over photos and comments posted to his Myspace page. He is pictured with a gun in one photo with the words "Kill Ya Kids". In another he is sitting behind the wheel of a car holding a cup with the words "who says drinking & driving is illegal. He also uses racial insults against two ethnic groups.
First of all how do you get a title like that when you are only 23. Secondly who hired this guy in the first place. And thirdly who uses Myspace anymore.
He should of read my article  Facebook Can Keep You From Getting A Job even though it's not about Myspace the same principals apply.
Now he can reclaim the title that fits him best unemployed loser.

Who Knew NJ Had Wineries?

The NJ State assembly passed a bill today, 78-0, to allow the 40 plus wineries in the state to begin advertising along public roadways. While I don't know if I agree with placing advertising for alcoholic beverages along our road ways, I do agree we need to help promote them. I never knew we had any wineries in NJ, that may be because I don't drink wine. I don't drink at all, in fact, but I know about micro breweries.
The wineries themselves obviously need to do a better job getting the word out. Hopefully the signs will be tasteful, and the wine tastey.
P.S. anyone knows about a winery I would be glad to mention them here.

Jersey Shore GTL Tshirt

The show, the shirt, The Situation, the lifestyle. Gym, Tan, Laundry, does life get any better than this. Finally we all have a shirt to let people know what we're doing today. Too bad mine would say WKB, Work, Kids, Bed.

New Jersey Nightmare For Tom Brady

There he is, the pretty boy, all world quarterback, sitting on the sofa in his New England mansion with his supermodel wife watching the Jets knock off the Colts. He now knows to win another Super Bowl he will have to beat a team that calls NJ home.
As he closes his eyes all he can see is David Tyree coming down with that ball. The other team from Jersey, the Giants, not only denying him a perfect season but a championship ring as well. Tom Brady I have some news for you. If you want to win another Super Bowl you are gonna have to beat a team from Jersey.
Rex Ryan loves the spotlight. It can't get much brighter than this coming week. Wonder what Rex has up his sleeve, though we'll probably see it on You Tube in the future. How about signing David Tyree to a one game contract. Let Brady see the ghost in person.
Either way you got to get past Jerzeebaby! Good luck Tom. Not Really! Go Jets!!!

NJ Hit With Annoying Snow

Friday, in Jersey, brought us the worst kind of snow you can get. Annoying snow. Annoying snow is snow that is just enough to make your life difficult, but not enough to allow you to stay home from work.
The morning starts with the kids checking every media source possible to find out if school is cancelled. Annoying snow does not get schools to close, no much worse, delayed opening. The wining of the kids is only out done by the lack of understanding in your boss's voice when you call and say you'll be late because of the delayed opening. Then it is out to the car. Here annoying snow is just enough that you not only have to clean off the car, but also the driveway. A little less and you could just turn up the heat, put on the wipers and off you would go. A little more and you would have all day to deal with it because you wouldn't be going to work.
The school bus finally comes, the car and driveway are clear. Now comes the worst part, your normal commute time is now doubled or even tripled. You slowly manuever down your local streets to reach the highway, which while it is bare, is completely stopped with traffic. You merge in to the crawl and finally reach work.
There you are greeted by the disgusted look of your boss, whose children are grown, and whose only care is his job. He left for work before the snow started. You think he could've at least cleared the sidewalk or made some coffee. He promptly calls a meeting to make sure you are aware he still expects 10 hours of work in the 5 hours of time you have left in the work day. Thanks for taking up 15 minutes with the meeting boss. Oh yeah, and no lunch.
Annoying snow you have ruined another day in Jerzeebaby, thanks!

Increase Your Chances At Winning The Lottery

I have never been much of a lottery player. The only times I really play is when the jackpots are high. I feel I am a rather intelligent individual who likes to research most anything before I buy. Why should lottery tickets be any different. I was pretty surprised by how much you can increase your odds with a little knowledge. Check out my article on Yahoo at    NJ Lottery Increase Your Chances

Atlantic City May Get a Hard Rock Casino

Thanks to a change in a state law reducing the number of hotel rooms a casino must have to get a license Atlantic City might see it's first new casino since the Borgata opened in 2003. Hard Rock International is set to move forward with plans to build a $300 million casino and hotel on the Boardwalk. When the law was changed it was hoped that just this type of growth would be spurred.
Having a new casino hotel, especially one with the fun reputation the Hard Rock has, could surely help draw more people to Atlantic City. The city needs so much more though. Once you walk through the doors into a casino you forget where you are. The experience is designed to overwhelm your senses. However, unlike Las Vegas, once you walk out the doors the reality of Atlantic City slaps you in the face.
The city needs to become a destination, not just a place for a day trip. Attractions need to be built so you can't see the whole place in one day. The surrounding areas need to be cleaned up. Atlantic City is sort of like the plain, unexciting girl you know you can have any time. Where as Vegas is the hot, wild woman you rarely, if ever, get a chance with.

NJ Woman Gets Social Security Death Benefits For In Vitro Twins

A NJ woman, Karen Capato, won her case in Philadelphia this week to get Social Security death benefits for her 7 year old twins. The children were conceived using her dead husband's sperm after he lost his battle with cancer through in vitro. The federal appeals court reversed a previous court's ruling.
While I am happy for this woman and her children, who will suffer enough having to grow up without their dad, the whole thing does concern me. I just hope some very deceitful people don't start preying on dying men and women to find a way to cheat the system.

NJ To Allow Advertising On School Buses

New Jersey Governor Chris Christie has signed a law which will allow advertisements to be placed on school buses. The school districts will set their own rates, with half the money collected required to go towards fuel costs. The other half of the money can be used any way the district sees fit. Ads for tobacco, alcohol, and political purposes will not be allowed.
Now we need to depend on the districts to make sure the ads are both tasteful and don't prey on our children. No ads for candy or soda. No ads featuring religous messages of any kind. How about birth control? I'm starting to get the picture that our kid's school buses will start looking like Nascar Sprint Cup racecars.
Whatever the case, I would definitely expect to not see a rise in property taxes for the schools once this takes effect. The schools more than anyone should be teaching our children that a little creativity and responsibility can go a long way.

Vince Lombardi Is Buried In New Jersey

I have lived in NJ my whole life, all 45 years, and yet I still learn something new about the state on a regular basis. Today I learned that perhaps the NFL's most famous coach, Vince Lombardi, is buried in Middletown NJ. Most amazing to me is I have probably driven past the cemetary more than 100 times. This isn't a remote part of the state, it's practically the center.
Vince Lombardi and his wife are buried in the Mount Olive Cemetary just off of Chapel Hill Road in Middletown. The cemetary is one town over from where his parents lived and about 30 miles from where he began coaching at St.Cecelia's High School. The very normal looking marker is very popular with Green Bay Packer fans during the football season, and is often decorated with banners or other Packer memorabilia.
I have to admit I didn't know much about Lombardi. I had heard the speeches he was famous for and knew the Super Bowl trophy was named for him, but not much else. I certainly never knew he began his career in NJ or that he was buried here. He is so linked to the Packers I always assumed he was probably buried in Green Bay.
I will certainly have to make a visit in the very near future and maybe even take the time to read more about this man. I might even have to check out the play "Lombardi" on Broadway. Wonder if I can get a package deal to check out "Jersey Boys" at the same time, sort of a NJ on Broadway night.

New Jersey Issues Winter Weather Alert

The NJ Office of Emergency Management has issued a Winter Weather Alert for the state. Snow is expected to start some time on Friday and continue into Saturday with accumulations up to 5 inches in some areas. We all need to do our parts as Jerseyans and immediately head out to Shop Rite, Wegmans, or any other super market and buy up all the milk, bread, and water they have. Oh, and don't forget Lowes or Home Depot for the shovels, and ice melt. Isn't it amazing how many people don't have any of these things until a storm is approaching. Snow might be the solution to fix our economy.

Seaside Heights On Jersey Shore Not The One I Remember

With the premiere of a new episode tonight of MTV'S Jersey Shore it got me to thinking about my good times in Seaside Heights. The physical place is much the same as when I used to visit more than 20 years ago. Boardwalk lined with game stands, arcades, treat shops, rides and bars. The same clubs, for the most part, are still there they just might have a new name or different paint job.
The way I experienced Seaside, however, was much different than what you see on MTV. Cars were a much bigger part of it than now. In fact unless you had a cool car to go there with most times you stayed home or made sure you found a place to park away from the boardwalk. Back then, not only were you allowed to cruise the strip it was expected. Where "The Situation" spends all day working out, tanning, and getting his hair cut. I would spend most of my day washing and polishing my car, then making sure it's tank was full.
Luckily, I had a cool car. A 1969 Orange Camaro that was respected by the other guys cruising and noticed by the girls my friends and I were trying to meet. My buddies and I would pile into the car and make the half hour to 45 minute ride, depending on if we saw any cops, to Seaside. Once there we would drive to the farthest end of town, pull onto the strip which ran next to the boardwalk, and drive slowly to the other end. The strip would be lined with cars and trucks, most filled with young guys yelling out the windows to just about any girl within shouting distance. There were only two reasons to stop, either a group of girls actually responded to your craziness, or you happened to be lucky enough to get a parking spot on the strip.
Your plans for the night were mostly determined by a good parking spot or some girls agreeing to meet you on the boardwalk. If it was a meeting then the parking spot did not matter. If you were lucky enough to get a spot on the strip, that is where you would spend most of your night. We would park the car, crank up the music and lean on it, all the while eyeing up any female that would walk by. Only if the action seemed slow would we actually venture up on to the boardwalk to resume our mission to meet some young women.
We never went in the clubs or fist pumped. If we drank it was usually done under the boardwalk with a case of beer we brought with us, not a mixed drink in a club. When we met a girl who liked us we took her onto the beach, not back to our beach house and the night would not be complete without a stop at the diner on the way home.
The diner served two purposes, not just the classic Cheeseburger Deluxe to sober us up, but also as a place to meet more girls. Ah, the simple times when the only things that mattered were girls, cars, and beer. Once the last frie was eaten, everyone would throw some money on the table, we would pay our bill and head home. Many times to be greeted by the rising sun along the way.
Perhaps the only thing we had in common with the cast of the Jersey Shore was sleeping in the next day, that is unless the next day was Saturday when we would repeat the whole process again.

You've probably seen the Weird NJ magazines in you travels about our state. They are usually on the counter at convenience stores or magazine racks and you may have actually even checked one out. If you have never read the book, you are truly missing out. I got a copy of it as a present and couldn't put it down. While there are certainly some stories from places in Jersey you have probably never heard of, the number of places you will recognize will amaze you. Hard to believe such a small state as ours could have so many strange places, events and urban legends. Check it out.

Jersey Shore Show To Actually Have A Jersey Girl

The MTV show Jersey Shore returns to the air on Thursday night at 10PM with a new cast member. Deena Nicole Cortese of New Egypt, NJ becomes the first cast member actually from South Jersey. Reportedly during one episode she removes her shorts in front of Mike "The Situation" mistakenly thinking she had a bathing suit on. All this while describing herself as "class in a glass and party in a body"
Ever since this show came on the air I could defend our state by saying the cast members who embarrassed themselves the most weren't from Jersey. Sadly I think those days are gone. I just hope people watching notice the great times you can have down the shore, not the idiots that are so atypical.

Nascar Stars Coming To Pennsylvania

If you are a racing fan like me and are looking for something to feed that hunger the Motorsports 2011 show in Pennsylvania may be just the thing. I have attended the show for many years, both as a race fan and as a member of a Nascar team. The show is just outside of Philadelphia and very easy to get to. The great thing about it is the drivers who attend are very accessible. I have found myself shoulder to shoulder in an aisle with Dale Earnhardt jr. and Steve Park to mention a few.
The show features more race cars and tracks than you can imagine. They also have two bikini contests, free autograph sessions, and even big wheel races for the kids. For more info click the link

Mega Millions Dreaming

The Mega Millions jackpot is estimated at $355 million for tonite in NJ. Hope you all forgot to buy your tickets, just kidding. I only buy when the jackpot gets big, like I couldn't use the paltry $1 million it would pay to win it normally.
The funny thing is how the dreams of what you would do with the money changes as your life changes. Five years ago I would tell my friends I would never be around to spend it all. I would surely die while partying way before it was spent. Now I would make sure my fiancee and son had everything they wanted first. Then I would make sure the education of my nephews was paid for, wherever they decided to go to school. Next would be my mom, although all she would want is a trip to Atlantic City to play the slots, she's so wild.
Only after everyone else would I get my shore house overlooking the ocean where I could just relax with my cup of coffee and the newspaper as I watched the waves. Amazing how simple life could be if we just let it.
                                        Good Luck!
Hope someone in Jersey wins it, especially me!

Marlboro Man Sentenced For Stealing $1.7 Million From N.Y. DMV

A Marlboro man, Glen Fox, was sentenced to from 5 to 15 years in prison for stealing $1.7 million in fees he was supposed to be collecting on behalf of the NY DMV as part of his job. The fees were stolen during the months of August through October of 2009.
Every time I see one of these stories it always amazes me how much money goes missing before anyone notices. I'm sure it started small, maybe the guy needed lunch money, next thing you know he "needed" a Mercedes. You have to wonder, had the guy stopped at a million and ran off to Mexico, would they have caught him? Greed always gets the best of them.
Maybe he was just making NY finally pay for calling the Jets and Giants NY teams. We all know they are Jerzeebaby!

Picture of Man Sought In South Brunswick Cab Robbery

South Brunswick police are looking for the man pictured in connection with a cab robbery. The cab had picked him up in Dunellen on December 20 and when they arrived at the Whispering Woods developement he lunged at the driver with an ice pick. The cab driver fled and was unharmed. This same man also threatened to slice a police officers throat previously. He was previously convicted of stabbing a man in 2008. Is it just me, or does anyone else wonder how you can be convicted of stabbing someone and be out of jail in less than two years? Violent people are the ones we need to keep behind bars. If you have any information about this guy you can call the South Brunswick police at 732-329-4646. Let's get this guy off the streets of JERZEEBABY.

Police Chase Ends On Police HQ Steps

A police chase, early this afternoon, in Camden ended with the suspect crashing into the base of the steps of the police headquarters. The 37 year old Trenton man, who was driving a stolen van, was taken into custody. How come none of our police chases end up on television? In other parts of the country it's like regularly scheduled programming. It's so common in Los Angeles they interrupt the chases to join Oprah "already in progress". Just something else we need to work on.

Save Wall Stadium

The only thing I am more passionate about than my family and the great state of NJ, is auto racing. I was a regular at Wall Stadium in Belmar as a child. My father would pile us in the stationwagon along with any other kids from the neighborhood who wanted to go and head off to the track most Saturday nights in the summer. Like any other kid I loved the noise, the brightly painted cars, and the crashes. As I grew older I began to appreciate the skill of the drivers, I was hooked.
I became a volunteer crewmember on a street stock and eventually went on to be a crewman on a Nascar Modified on the Tour. All this started at Wall Stadium. I now have a son of my own who has been to Wall twice in his short three years.
Sadly the track's future is in doubt. The land it sits on is for sale and it doesn't have a promoter in place for the 2011 season. Check out an article I wrote for Yahoo for a possible solution         NJ's Nascar Sons Need To Help Wall Stadium

New Years Day Ride of Shame

As hard as it is to believe, even to me, I once had a life that didn't include playing with a three year old and watching Nick Jr. I'm not complaining I very much enjoy my life now, much like I enjoyed what seems like my previous life. The New Year always brings back memories of my worst New Years Eve which also became one of my funniest New Years Days. Check out my funny short story at   New Years Day Ride of Shame

Happy New Year in Camden

Happy New Year everyone. I celebrated New Years at my home in Camden NJ, with my fiancee and three year old son. We live in a beautiful loft apartment on the waterfront looking out on Philadelphia. One of the benefits of living here is the numerous firework displays throughout the year. New Years Eve was no exception, in fact we got two displays, one at 6PM and the other at midnight.
We could of easily watched from inside, but my three year old wasn't having that. He wanted to watch from the roof, which we had done all summer long. So off to the roof we went. We joined many of our neighbors and their guests for the 6PM show.
The fireworks were launched from a barge in the middle of the Delaware, directly between NJ and Philly. They were spectacular, the best we had seen all year. My son loves to talk, and while he loved the fireworks, he kept telling them to by quieter so he could hear the words coming out of his mouth. He sounded like a promoter as we reached the crowd that had gathered greeting them with "Hello everybody, are you here to watch some fireworks?"
We had a great time and returned home to have dinner and continue playing with his racecars and trucks. He finally passed out about 9PM, and we weren't far behind him. The life of parents, but I wouldn't change anything. Nothing better than experiencing life through your child's eyes.
Happy New Year everyone, and have fun in JERZEEBABY.

NJ Snowstorm Horror Stories

The snowstorm hit us hard in NJ, but I didn't have any idea how hard until I talked to my brothers. One of my brothers had his own horrorible experience and another told me of one he heard being carried live on the radio.
One of my brothers drives a tow truck as a part-time job. He was dispatched out to RT.18 in the Freehold area to free a truck stuck in the snow. Upon his arrival he was greeted with not only the truck he was sent to retrieve, but also three plow trucks. After checking out the situation he returned to his truck , which by now was not only stuck, but blocked in by the traffic that had since arrived and were met with a blocked road. After alot of manual labor, they were able to clear the road. NINE HOURS LATER! Yes, he and the others were stuck out there for 9 hours.
My other brother works for Pep Boys and as part of his job he must drive from one location to another. He actually came upon the same location as my other brother on RT. 18, but thanks to some quick thinking didn't get stuck there. He and some others actual shoveled out a path to drive accross the median grass to get to the other side of the road, and turn around. Due to the road conditions he spent a great deal of the day in the car. He related to me a story he heard play out on the radio. A woman called into the station to say she was stuck on an exit ramp with her three children in the car. The radio station stayed in touch with the woman during her ordeal. When my brother finally arrived home the woman and her children had still not been freed. He was really amazed when he returned to his car the next morning, turned on the radio, and her and her kids were still stuck. She was finally freed some time around 11AM. I have one child, and I can't imagine being stuck in a car overnight with him, let alone three. They turned out to be fine, thank goodness.
I'm sure there were many more horror stories. Just part of living in JERZEEBABY.
